Re: Got my Hero at Best Buy today!

I noticed no lag so far after a few hours with it.
I am now downloading the free task manager for it, called "tasKiller free".
I have read in some reviews that there are programs that don't close easily even after pressing the "back" arrow button on bottom.
So thats why I am downloading the task manager
I am guessing that "darren.wlsn1" may have stumbled on a bug, like a web page or youtube site causing excessive memory usage or mayby a free-application mem leak.
I thought all the so called "10,000" apps in the app store were free?

Re: Got my Hero at Best Buy today!

Quick question, are the apps I am downloading saving to the microSD or the phone?

Try advanced task killer, there's a paid non ad version and free ad version. I like it better then task killer as you can choose what happens when you tap on an app. Taskiller you have to long press to be able to open the app back up, if you press on it once it'll automatically kill the app. I wanted something to do the opposite, tap once to bring up the app and long press to kill it.

I believe everything is on the phone, no way to save to the SD right now from what i've read. Hopefully that'll change soon. And I think I saw an app/task manger that let's you "back up" your apps to the card but don't know if that means you're still able to run them from it. Gotta do more research.

I 2nd the Advanced Task Killer over taskiller though I'm reading neither is necessarily needed but I like the control. TasKiller I was always worried about accidentally closing apps ATK gives more control.

Also try AppManager to keep track of all downloaded and installed apps and also back up any (unprotected) apps to the sd card. Not sure what that means exactly but im assuming it will allow you to easily reload apps after a hard reset (just a shot in the dark) or maybe (hopefully) it is like WinMo where apps actually run from your card. I'll look into it too

Bad enough that we had to put up with your always negative posts in the WinMo forums, now you're in the Android scene as well?

I picked up my phone on Friday morning, had my gmail and work email setup in a matter of minutes. All my contacts synced over from my Google account. Integration with Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, have all been flawless and fast. Battery life has been great (I'm at 65% right now and off the charger since 7:30 this morning). All in all I have been VERY impressed with this phone compared to my Sprint Diamond or the Mogul I had before it. The only other phone from Sprint that I've used which compares (ease of setup, ease of use) to this is a Pre which my wife owns.

(and I know I need to update me sig...)

Re: Got my Hero at Best Buy today!

Loving this phone I hope this vid helps show how smooth (or laggy lol) the phone is! Sorry not the clearest vid hope I covered enough in this short clip.

Please remember this is the phone straight out of the box, no tweaking. Now think about all the tweaking Rom flashing etc. NECESSARY for WinMo phones. Even with some of the best Roms they were still a bit quirky. Honestly, if this is ground zero I cant wait to see how far Android will go. The phone has a LITTLE lag from time to time and a few small issues that will be addressed in time. ALL new phones have some bugs that have to be worked out its just the price of early adoption

I love how you can edit an mp3 and set it as a ring tone. Discovering everything on this phone is going to be a lot of fun.
