"HTC Hero requires activation on a pricing plan offering unlimited data. Sprint’s Simply EverythingSM plan provides unlimited nationwide calling, texting, e-mail, social networking, Web browsing, GPS navigation, Sprint TV, streaming music, NFL Mobile Live, NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile and much more for only $99.99 per month. That’s a savings of $1,200 over two years vs. a comparable AT&T iPhone® plan2. Sprint Everything Data plans with unlimited messaging and data start at just $69.99 for 450 minutes with unlimited night and weekend calling starting at 7 p.m. (All price plans exclude Sprint surcharges and taxes.)" "The Sprint Hero will be available on October 11. The phone will retail for $280, with a mail-in rebate dropping the price $100 to only $180, a competitive starting point, but we're still not fans of this whole mail-in rebate thing. The Sprint Hero will require an unlimited data plan, but as we saw in an earlier analysis, Sprint also offers some of the most competitive rates for smartphone data. " When it says it requires an unlimited data plan i could understand the confusion, but then at the end it says sprints unlimited data plan starts at 69.99 that should take away the confusion. |

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!
I'll have to throw in with P and Chain on this one. I know my documents are probably slightly different being a third party dealer but my example is with the Pre. Everything I had in terms of internal documentation implied any plan with data would be acceptable but low and behold I call in to activate my Pre and had to flip to an Everything Data Share.
So based on my previous experience with Sprint's vague language, I'm figuring the Hero will require one of the Everything Plans or the Sero Everything equivalent

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!
i'm not buying into the no hero on sero debate right now. there are too many conflicting reports. on sprintusers a user indicated they are going to ease up phone restrictions for sero plans which only favors us sero users.

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!
The fact that it is a Sprint exclusive for the time being gives it a nod to the Simply Everything column..
Someone mentioned how Hesse spent 100 million advertising the Instinct, which came to 200 per phone sold. But that also meant that he got 500,000 people on $100 a month plans, too. Thats the real scratch |

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!
I received this today. I sent email to Dan@Sprint.com. Everyone with Sprint should email them with questions on SERO and Hero, or what other phones will be available. Last month they told me to check phonearena.com to find out which phones will be available. At that time Phonearena had the Hero for 10/11, TP2 for 9/8 and the TD2(no date). If they see there is a great desire for the Hero w/SERO maybe they will be swayed.
"Thank you for your reply. There are no details on what rate plan options will be required for the HTC Hero at the moment. However, our HTC Touch Pro 2 was released today and is compatible with your SERO plan. Once we have received detailed information on the HTC Hero I will contact you with further updates. Additionally, you can view the specifications of the phone at www.phonearena.com. If you have any other questions you can contact me at 757-223-3363." Sincerely, Demetre B. 757-223-3363 Sprint |
