Re: Custom ROMs? Rooting? New to this type of world...

Perhaps a stupid question, but I unlocked and flashed the recovery image to my card, but for some reason, the card isn't found.

I get:

cd/sdcard: not found

Yet its there, because the revoery image is on it.

You pushed to sd card and it worked? If it did you need to reboot box and phone and start again at the push step.

Re: Custom ROMs? Rooting? New to this type of world...

hmmm, still getting the same error.

I pushed to the sd card but still getting the cd/sdcard/: not found error.

Do I need to be mounted, or unmounted or anything?

EDIT: meh, I messsed, up. I deleted the "tools" folder to see if I could start over and now my adb drivers are all screwed up. meh, I'm rooted so I'll just play. I guess a custom ROM wasn't for a noob.

Will the root process still work on Sprint Heroes that have been updated with the patch that came out a few weeks ago?

Yes as long as you are using the ones that are here and not the ones for GSM heros.

Re: Custom ROMs? Rooting? New to this type of world...

sorry to bump a kind of old thread, but I have some questions that fall into this category...

My main question is if I root/flash/whatever (whats the proper term here?) my phone, is it akin to reformatting a pc? Like is it going to erase everything I have on my phone? If it doesn't erase everything, will it change any settings or anything that I might not notice right away?

Also, I've found this page and this page. I'm supposed to replace the part where it says "download such and such ROM" with the latest from here, right? Are there any other steps that need to have the downloaded materials replaced?

More questions to come I'm sure... lol
