Custom ROMs? Rooting? New to this type of world...
Hey there guys. I have been reading up on this website for a little over a week and I think this is all fascinating. I done read about Custom Roms, applications, and rooting. I'm a complete noob when it comes to customizing a cell phone. I am one of those people who just buys the best phone out there and use it as it comes. But recently, I've noticed that some phones are able to me modified, which I find wickidly awesome. Anyways, let me get straight to the point.
Honestly, either I'm a complete fool and I have a hard time comprehending or this is all confusing at a glance to people who know nothing of the subject....What EXACTLY are the pros of running a Custom ROM [such as Fresh 1.0] and rooting your phone? I understand that rooting your phone allows you to run Custom ROMs, but what is a Custom ROM? What does it add to your phone? What does it do? Why should I install such Custom ROM? What are the differences? I'm so sorry for all the questions, I'm just a complete noob when it comes down to this. Thanks in advance! [I currently do not own a Sprint HTC HERO, but I will get one around January, when I am eligible for an upgrade.] |
