All I know is that this damage falls under the repair option. The repair center will most likely order you a replacement since they are not gonna try and fix port issues. Like someone said, there is no reason to go through asurion unless the phone is lost, extremely damaged or water damage. It's a waste of $100. But hey, if you want to pay money for no reason be my guest.

Re: EVO 4G Out of Stock (both Sprint & Asurion?)
I dont know how many of you guys that have actually dealt with the repair center but.....they are morons. The most complicated thing they can do is take apart the screen. Most repairs entail taking the battery out and/or resetting the phone. I also read an article last year about how sprint is going to scale back the repair program. From button issues to drop damage, I have gotten replacements. Under the mfr warranty.
Unfortunatly, for the fastest results you need to go to a local repair center and stump them. Then they make the magic call and give you a replacement. There are some shops that have refurbs physically in stock.

Evos have been backordered throughout Sprint for a while now. We just received a large shipment and they're backordered again. Our service center couldn't even get them from the warehouse in a timely manner.

Nope...7-10 day turn around through Asurion. And there is currently no acceptable substitute. However, if anyone does succesfully trade in for the Epic, please post how.

Re: EVO 4G Out of Stock (both Sprint & Asurion?)
Not sure about your Sprint Store Repair Centers, but I went one about 3 times to get my Evo repaired. First was when I shattered my screen, which was suppose to be replaced by Asurion. Then replacement of the screen when the touch capability wasn't working and then the charging port problem which I got a replacement. All of my repairs were all free. The Sprint Rep also told me it was suppose to be a 35 charge to replace the shattered screen, but found out it was covered under the TEP.

And usually sprint won't give you a different handset unless you had multiple known defects in a short time (rep told me 4 replacements in 6 mos alla touch pro keyboard). I think its fair Cooler than your EVO |

I don't think there is nothing wrong with complaining about the sprint repair process. Most people deal with third party repair centers which suck. I am almost guaranteed a problem at the repair center. I wish I had a corporate store near me. Last time I took my evo in they said that the kick stand not staying down was not wear and tear and I had to file a claim with asurion. In the end sprint sent me a new phone since the repair center wouldn't do it. If course now that rule is different but I would not doubt it if they did it again.

Re: EVO 4G Out of Stock (both Sprint & Asurion?)
never had a problem with sprint repair center in Sacramento/Elk Grove... and for a while there, I had to have my phone fixed for cracked screen about 5 times in 2 months. LOL..
The repair center can fix your phone but that kinda depends on the techs ability. Never been a problem here though. Wish i could be of more help. |
