The others will be fixed in September..and since they fixed it in the Epic there really is no reason for it not to be fixed with them... And at this point this means 2/3 major issues are already fixed before the device came out..yes there is no LAG on the Epic either... the last question is how good the battery life is...so far the reviewer said is like a few min more then the EVO using 4g but the margin should be bigger considering the device :/

But either way, since the GPS bug is fixed this means 100% the other units will be fixed in September...As for the GPS issue..it is possible they did not know about the issue as in where they tested the device it worked with no issue...and as for when releasing the Vibrant and Captivate we gotta remember that they are on a contract to get it to them...they can't just ignore the contract and even if the GPS issue was known had no choice but to hand it over with the issue...IT is also possible they picked September rather then immediate release because they want to roll out Froyo and the GPS fix in 1 update. But at least it looks like they are keeping their promises this time around so far..so we can say it is an improvement...as for how big an improvement we will know on how they handle the froyo release and what their stand is gonan be on Gingerbread for the Galaxy S... Re: So what do you guys think so far?
I like my EVO. I also like the specs of the Epic. I would own both but I already have 5 lines and I can get a 6th, but it has to be a seperate plan and I'm not willing to do that just yet.
The only gripe I have with HTC is the build quality. I have the 0002 version and my dad has the 0003. Mine has the light leak issue which isn't bad, but annoying nonetheless and cured by putting on a rubberized hard case. His doesn't have the light leak and his 4 buttons at bottom are twice as bright. Also, his screen is more vibrant. Coming from the Pre and Touch Pro 1, The EVO is a beast. I liked my Pre and it workes flawless but I'm a Tech junkie and moved on to something more my speed. Having a hardware keyboard is nice but not a deal breaker for me as I use the EVO's on screen board just fine. I'm not a phone "gamer" by any stretch. That is what a/my PC is for when I need a fix. Although I do admit, the 30fps cap is crappy but to me, it makes no difference as long as the phone and it's core functionality works as it should. I support sprint and not always the phone I'm using. If I don't like it, I take it back. If I decide to keep it, then I'm stuck till I'm eligible to upgrade again. I see it this way if I could....I would get the epic alongside my evo just for kicks. But if I wait till next year, 1.2 to 1.5Ghz dual core phones will hit the market and that makes better sense to me.

Re: So what do you guys think so far?
As a convert from Win 6.5 TP2 I absolutely love my EVO. It took a while to get used to, however it never really gave me problems from day one. Perfect size, user friendly and flash support has been a gem. I recently convince a friend and iPhone 3g user to give Android a chance and try out the Samsung Captivate. After switching I explained how there may be a learning curve, insuring him that he would love the openness and freedom with the Android OS. I guess after 3 weeks of using the phone, he is ready to return it and get the iPhone 4. He complained about it feeling laggy. Being a Facebook user he said "iPhone's Facebook is much faster, only one photo loads up on this one." I told him it may be the version of Facebook and should try updating it, but honestly after playing with the Galaxy S phone and all the hype surround these phones, I was a little let down and never again thought about giving the Epic 4g a try. I am not a big gamer, so that and the sliding keyboard would be the only benefits for me. Another thing I saw was when he put the phone in direct sunlight from the windows it reflect and glared like crazy. I don't know if that is an affect of a Super AMOLED screen but it was crazy. And although the screen was very vivid, I personally did not like the way it looked. After using HTC sense, I found Samsung's sense to be unappealing. I think it will boil down to the screen, keyboard, and graphics support. Other than the fact that the EVO is out of stock, I believe that it is still a contender even with its so called aging hardware, especially if you like HTC's sense. Just an opinion

So now that the Epic has been out a little bit lets touch base again..
Reports show GPS has NOT been fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!! Back button is going out or takes 8 times to actually work!!!!!!!!!!!!! Screen image burn in after only a few weeks of use!!!!!!!!!! Screen wobbles etc when keyboard is out!!!!!!!! Battery life doesn't seem to be so freakin fantastic!!!!! Looks like I won't be saying sorry to Samsung after all.. |

Back button works fine.... Screen burn in after only a few weeks of use how? cause it has only been out for a bit over 2 weeks..that said thats not burn-ins...AMOLED does NOT have burn-ins..what going on is this..AMOLED unlike LCD does not have blackligting..instead they deteriorate over use...when one color is constantly used in 1 spot none stop that color deteriorates and gives the apearancce of a feint "burn-in"..the most common is the taskbar.which if you change the taskbar color it will even out and be normal again...once you reach color balance your screen will be fine. My screen doesn't wobble at all :/..from what I read from the few that have it its not that bad... Battery life isn't the best I admit..but still better then an EVO As stated before..its not about Samsung surpassing HTC..its about reaching an "acceptable" standard for Samsung. Re: So what do you guys think so far?
I'm glad that I got the Evo and was lucky enough not to have some of the issues that others have posted. My Evo runs smooth and does everything I expected it to do well. Once 4g is light up full time in the burgh, that will make it complete! The development community, support on this site and others is great for the Evo. I think battery life is ok so long as you know it's a smartphone. I don't have much knowledge of the epic. I bet it's a solid device as well and I don't care whether its better or not. It's really doesn't matter in the end. Buy what you want and enjoy it.
