So what do you guys think so far?

Well ever since the new update came out, I assume EVO users are happier now. I still don't know if I should pull the trigger OR if I should wait for the EPIC 4G. I saw a funny post earlier -- someone was like "The EVO battery is not bad, you're just using it wrong," and another person was like "That's like saying the iPhone 4 reception is not bad, you're just holding it wrong"

Haha.

Re: So what do you guys think so far?

Pull the trigger. As you can tell from our upgrades section, there is a lot of love for the EVO. Try to do a google search on any upgrades for Samsung devices. There is way less support.

People were extremely happy even without Froyo, and in fact a lot of us have stayed with 2.1 until 2.2 works better

Re: So what do you guys think so far?

It all really depends on what you want in a device. The Evo has a large screen, kickstand, HDMI and whatnot. The Epic has the full qwerty keyboard....which I know a lot of Touch Pro 2 users would love to have...and that is why I think those that have been waiting for the Evo, might just turn there attention towards the Epic...because it's just like the Touch Pro 2 in terms of keyboard. From what I have seen in this forum a lot of Touch Pro 2 users have been either taking there Evo's back because of lack of keyboard, or they just don't like it. This will be the phone to cure there wants. Hopefully if this happens then the strain of the Evo 4G being out of stock will lessen...and those that are wanting the Evo 4G..like me..will actually be able to get one without many problems. We will see.

BTW...the only thing the Epic has over the Evo is the qwerty keyboard and the 4inch AMOLED screen...other than that...they are basically the same phone, expect for the manf.

And for those who have root, our phones now do everything plus! Besides, we can always say ours is bigger than theirs

Re: So what do you guys think so far?

To my knowledge, Samsung has not produced a "WOW" device yet. I have seen numerous posts regarding how Samsung never pleased people with their products. Truly, I do like a physical keyboard because I am coming from a Touch Pro 2. It helps because I hate messing up when I write long paragraphs. I feel the HTC Evo calling my name because of this HDMI output that I once dreamt of being in a phone. Also, a HTC Evo in white makes me more attractive to the phone...Don't really know what I should do. I will miss my free tethering though . LOL

I have to say, I haven't anyone take their Evo back over the lack of a keyboard. I came from the TP2, mogul, i730, and I am doing fine without the keyboard. I spend a lot of time here too, and don't know what you mean. Where are these "a lot of users" you refer to?

Also, the Epic keyboard don't look as good as the TP2's to me. The keys don't offset from one row too the next.

The epic also has an entirely different microprocessor, and handles graphics different. They aren't even close to being the same phone in ways other than the keyboard and screen

The i730 and i830 were awesome, but that's been write a few years now.

Re: So what do you guys think so far?

I'll answer all your epic questions if ya want..I'm the self proclaimed Galaxy S expert..ask anyone (who still doesn't have one FML)

The Epic 4g does have an HDMI port..it does it via the microusb port..you just need the wire which is pretty much same as an EVO...the advantages you get is you can also do video out via the 3.5mm port which while isnt HD will do a full display of the screen whats on the phone unlike the HDMI in the EVO and my guess Epic as well.

And its SUPER AMOLED not regular AMOLED..big difference >.>

Processor wise the CPU is 2x better then the EVO and graphics wise 3-4x better..of course most users may not notice it in casual use unless they play games, view videos or load web pages with flash... of course this can change with with gingerbread which is rumored to rely more on the GPU for the entire UI.

As for samsungs reputation..it isnt good in general with updates...though this time they are trying to market it as a "premium brand" so im pretty positive they will support it for at least a year..but its not like saying HTC hasn't screwed us many times either..(*cough* drivers)

Once rooted you can do free tethering either way...on both EVO and Epic

Any other questions you need answered?

Re: So what do you guys think so far?

gTen,

Seems like you prefer EPIC over EVO, am I correct? I don't necessarily want to make this a VS thread -- can't believe I just did, oh well...I am going to get one of them.

I guess I should wait until people actually review the EPIC. Sure it sounds pretty amazing, however a SUPER AMOLED screen may F&%@ up your battery pretty bad too...........Hmph.
