Can't sync facebook contacts

according to nygel on another facebook syncing post, PLEASE READ THIS.

"Just to let everyone one know that yes there are alot of threads with this issue. So that being said just to inform evey one please read below:

THE FACEBOOK NOT SYNCING IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT IS AFFECTING ALL MOBILE DEVICES DUE TO THE FACT THAT FACEBOOK HAS UPDATED THE SECURITY PROTCOL; HTC AND OTHER CARRIERS ARE BEHIND INTO PRESENTING FACEBOOK WITH A WORKING SOLUTION THAT THEY WILL ACCEPT. SO FAR AS THEY GIVING AN / A TIME TO GET A RESOLUTION THAT WILL NOT BE ACCURATE BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT GOTTEN A WORKING SEMI-FIX YET!!!!!!!"

so there is your reason why, don't get your panties in bunch, and just wait for them to come up with a solution. we are all affected by this issue, but complaining over and over again doesn't help anyone.

Probably you are right about this, since i read nexus side and i do not found any thread about this issue, even at htc link is just showing evos, incredible, hero but no nexus huuum its not weard?

actually its all android devices that have this issue, the ones that are already sync will have a difficult time updating but they will stay sync until the owner logs out then they will not be able to sync again, until HTC and facebook find a solution, which is cause by facebook updating there security protocol which is jamming 99% of all unsync android devices and some Windows mobile devices.

thank you hopefully they fix this fast as im now having the issue since i replace my phone GGrrrrr .. makes me want to throw this thing, but its FB's fault they suck!!!!

yeah everybody complaing about this syncing problem. I just got my EVO saturday and I thought something was wrong with it. I did some research on sprint and of course my fav site ppcgeeks...and found out im not the only one experiencing this..so im happy lol

ya nygel is right. it sucks that we all have to be like wtf when someone calls. i was just getting used to pics popping up on my phone when someone calls, but the little green droid will do for now lol

So I just noticed that my FB contacts are syncing again! Between last time I checked and now, I did the following:

1. Followed this fix at androidforums, which didn't seem to help immediately
2. Flashed netarchy-toastmod 3.7.5 kernel
3. Rebooted

Then I got a notification that said "Facebook authentication has failed," clicked on it, and was asked to enter my FB password. So I did, and lo and behold, my contacts are back.

I'm not exactly sure what fixed it. Either:

1. The androidforums fix worked, but only after a reboot
2. Flashing a new kernel fixed the problem
3. HTC just happened to fix the problem on their side at the same time I did all of this

Anyway, it's working for me now. Just thought I'd share.

well so far step 1 got my contact card working, and when i go into sync facebook, it doesnt work, but i am able to see my 'facebook' profile and wall posts

EDIT: well mine is now fixed. after only getting my contact card working, i stupidly unsynced facebook for htc sense and it would not let me sync back so i used my titanium backup to restore all my data since i ran the backup 3 days ago. once restored, i restarted my phone and bam.. all my contacts are back.

oh wait, i think its not fixed.. i think its just titanium backup restoring my previous facebook for htc sense connection. there arent any new status updates/pictures.

oh man can anyone else confirm if htc did this issue fixed? i can't check, work has barely any service!

ok so i got some internet signal at work and it didn't work for me. i tried just doing it as is, and then also i removed the account and synced it again. nothing worked!
