How do you get google to sync with the phone?

I found it. i was set to HTC synch rather than disk

Ok now when you added a contact is it set to google as contact type? Anyway, everything on my calender and any new contacts gets sycned with my gmail automatically as soon as I save it to the phone.

The contacts on the phone that are listed as a "Phone" contact will never sync with google. They must be set as a google type contact.

This is so dumb. Does not look like you can change it either.

Looks like we posted at the same time, anyway on my phone its default is to sync with google.

I just created another contact on the phone, made sure it was of contact type google and it appears that it still did not sync even after the sync all button was pressed. Something is not right.

That worked...

BTW, those others that did not sync to gmail were sent to me by another phone (hero) that must be setup to phone as contact type.

I believe there may be a program on the market place to convert types...Found the below on google:

If all your contacts are Google skip to step 5.

1) Go to the 'Market'
2) Search ContactSync
3) Download and Install
4) Run program and it will transfer any Phone Contacts to Google ones.
5) Go into 'Settings'
6) Now click on 'Data Synchronisation'.
7) Scroll down to 'Contacts' and ensure the tick box is marked. Even if it is not untick it and retick it and will start to synchronise.
Give 5 mins+ and it should be done.
