That worked...
BTW, those others that did not sync to gmail were sent to me by another phone (hero) that must be setup to phone as contact type.
I believe there may be a program on the market place to convert types...Found the below on google:
If all your contacts are Google skip to step 5.
1) Go to the 'Market'
2) Search ContactSync
3) Download and Install
4) Run program and it will transfer any Phone Contacts to Google ones.
5) Go into 'Settings'
6) Now click on 'Data Synchronisation'.
7) Scroll down to 'Contacts' and ensure the tick box is marked. Even if it is not untick it and retick it and will start to synchronise.
Give 5 mins+ and it should be done.
