Disclosure: I am still an android n00b but I am trying my best, so if I give you the wrong info then sorry in advance

Ok now when you added a contact is it set to google as contact type? Anyway, everything on my calender and any new contacts gets sycned with my gmail automatically as soon as I save it to the phone.
