Problem is my screen is smashed. Phone still works, posting from it now, but if they can't just replace the screen, i don't want to worry about them digging thru device. Re-rooting and getting back to were i am is one thing, them finding out and what it will cost me is an other. Just not the risk i am wiilling to take.

probably a dumb question...I have software number 3.29.651.5. Which rooting instructions do I use. I've rooted an EVO before, was just unclear on what steps to use with the newer OTA.

I had a bad usb port and OMJ on phone. Took in today and they replaced with no questions or charge.

Just got home and put new screen protector on. i had metal shavings in earpiece and speaker and a decent scratch on on corner. they took the guts from my phone and put it. in a whole new case, no charge no questions asked. Thank goodness.

Ya i couldn't get it unrooted in time. Took it in rooted with a dead battery. I got a brand new phone and casing with my hardware guts and i am pleased to say my external speaker is crystal clear again, yeah.

I'll admit, i was nervus and a bit scared.

I didnt see anyone actually addressing the "Un-Rooting" issue. Does anyone know how to use a stock rom to return phone to stock un-rooted condition? I downloaded the latest stock RUU but its a .EXE file. Does anyone know how I can use this file to flash my Evo?

Dan, i tried this How To: Unroot the HTC Evo | TheUnlockr and wasn't getting any luck. Give it a try and see if it works with your current ruu

Just run the RUU on your PC and follow the directions. You will end up unrooted with a new OS.
