Re: need to unroot phone now
I tried following this procedure but when I got to loading the first PC36img.zip it failed saying something like "this version is older than the current one" which I was afraid of since I have the latest 3.30xxx stock rom loaded.
Could I take the rooted 3.30xxx .zip version, rename it PC36img.zip and load that? Maybe this will get me past the "old version" error and let me continue with the rest of the rooting process? Calling on the PRO's out there... HELP! |

Rooting latest 3.30.651.2 problem!
Guru's out there...
I followed the guide to rooting but it doesn't seem to work on this latest stock rom -which I made the mistake of loading when I was prepping my Evo to take it in for repair. "Unrevoked3 one click to root" doesnt work either. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Dan |

Re: Rooting latest 3.30.651.2 problem!
Unrevoked may not have been updated to include the new rom update yet. There is a thread in the EVo forum that tells you how to Root (the long way). That may work for you

Re: Rooting latest 3.30.651.2 problem!
I thought it might, but I tried using the files on that post but obviously they are older rom versions and got an error message saying something like "this version is older that the current one" and the process stopped. I wonder if I could just take the rooted .zip file of 3.30xxx version, re-name it PC36img.zip and substitute that in for the older rom's offered in the guide? Do you know if this will work? I thought it might since its a rooted version of the same rom.
Itching to try it, but afraid to brick my evo... |

I used unrevoked on replacement phone last night had 2.9 build. Unrevoked 3.21 does not root 3.30 yet.

Re: Rooting latest 3.30.651.2 problem!
There are custom rom's already out with this version such as OMJ and others, and there are stock rooted versions of it also -I downloaded it- so I think it has been cracked.
Now its just a matter of how I go from a stock "unrooted" version on my phone to a rooted version. |
