Re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe
So, I haven't kept up to date with this since Version 2.2 was first released. I am currently rooted via Unrevoked. I want to apply the new OTAs (version 3.29.651.5) keeps popping up for me to update. I know I can't just install it, because I need to S-on/S-off thing.... Is it possible to just go into settings>SD & Phone storage>Factory Data Reset and then once its completed just update my phone one update at a time to get to the latest?

Re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe
Thanks thacounty and jpwhre. Ok, so this just means im still in the newbie level. How then can i tell if its a rom for updating or for complete install (erasing)?
Where would you recommend i go for "update" roms. I did trip over one btw which worked great. But still would like to know if you have any links you could share. Thanks. Also, for those with rooted phones check out this link: [HTC EVO 4G] [ROM] 11/24/10 | SPRINT LOVERS | 2.2 | 3.30.651.3 | Radio/Wimax/PRI All-In-One It has the 3.30.651.3 version with the sprint hotspot and tethering unblocked by default. The update rom itself and Hotspot work perfectly. Still testing and discovering though so i cant say much else. I did run into a bit of a problem with my voice mail app but nothing common sense could not fix. Afterward I ran Rom Managers "fix permissions" option and any loose ends with the voice-mail were fixed. Still not clear on the concept of Rom Manager but I love it since it fixes just about all my OS and/or app probs. Last edited by havek; 11-30-2010 at 11:22 AM. |

Re: Rooting
I don't think it has to do with the Evo being white, more the hboot version. If your hboot is 2.02 you need to use a different rooting method. I think all of the newer Evo's are shipping with this version. I'm waiting for a replacement and was told it was going to be a white one so if you haven't figured it out by tomorrow I will try and root mine and let you know what happens.
