No when you are rooted already and not doing OTA or trying to upgrade yourself to 3.3 you can use a custom rom with 3.30 without any problems.

Re: Rooting latest 3.30.651.2 problem!

I understand that, I have been rooted since I bought my Evo about 3 months ago and have gone from custom rom to custom rom with no problems and plenty of times.
My confusion is if there are already stock ROOTED 3.30 versions and custom 3.30 versions out doesnt that mean its been cracked? and we should have a solution for rooting a phone with a stock version on it?

Not necessarily... just means that people that already have root access can flash it. For the people that buy the phone with it alrady on there there's no solution for that as of yet. It was the same way when 3.29 first came out.. there were roms with it for those with root access already but no root for those that didnt have it.

Re: need to unroot phone now

yeah you will prob have to wait until they release a new root method for the OTA

next time you flash an RUU make sure there is a root method for it

Re: need to unroot phone now

Yeah I guess I learned my lesson the hard way! It seems someone over at the XDA developer forums is on to a solution. Im waiting for him to post more details on it, I will report back if and when he does.

Info on nand backup and sprint bloatware

Wanting to know if doing and nand back up will still allow me to keep root and recovery if i decide to jump from a custom rom back to my stock rooted and recovery rom. And the sprint apps i was wondering what was the easiest way to uninstal preinstaled apps bc every method i seen seems hard and seems like u have to use the terminal emu and im not to familar with it. So any help would be great thank u

Re: Rooting latest 3.30.651.2 problem!

brownhornet already hit on it.....but flashing the official 3.30 will flash many images, using 3.30 as a base in a custom rom uses only the system & boot images.

Re: Rooting latest 3.30.651.2 problem!

OH WOW! I get the HONOR of a direct reply from MR O M J himself!! I am not worthy!

Thanks OMJ, I have used several of your roms and have enjoyed them a lot. I actually had your 3.7 version on my phone when I GOOFED UP and loaded RUU 3.30 because I was taking my Evo into the store. Oh well, I guess you live you learn. Next time I will know better.

Thanks again,
Dan
