Re: EVO - Root|Recovery|Nand Backup|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Videos
so even if you uninstall and delete unrevoked from your EVO you still arent able to use this rom manager.... I always get the red triangle with the ! so im guessing i will now never be able to use this rom manager? or do i have to go thru the whole downgrading process??? cause it seems that the only reason to downgrade was to switch the OTA update from .6 to .1 i think and since the new root from toast is able to be loaded on the .6 then what now? Am i stuck never using the rom manager????? please let me know

The Evo has created a bumper crop of Droid n00bs so what we learned yesterday may not hold up today.... Like you said-I obtained root via toasts method from the .6 OTA, I did not downgrade. As per toast you *should not* have to downgrade. Does rooting and unrooting with unrevoked change that? I honestly don't know. You do need to be rooted to use the ROM Manager, of that I am sure. So IMO I'd just go ahead and root via toasts method. If it doesnt go then you would need to downgrade but you *should* be fine. My post is two-fold-to help you out and to have anyone correct me if I'm wrong-I'm still learning and don't want to steer you wrong. I wouldn't be offended if you waited for FastRX8 to chime in. Good luck. EDIT:btw ROM Manager is up to v1.8.8.6 so if your not on that version go to the Market and grab it.

Re: EVO - Root|Recovery|Nand Backup|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Videos
Is there some where else I can try to download the file? I should not expand the zip file right? just copy the zip file to the root right ? Man seems so freaking simple, this is killing me! Thanks again for the help.

Yes, once you have it extract NOTHING, just place the zip on the root of the SD. |

Yup I got it from this post. Im not sure what to do now. I have downloaded it from my phone from my laptop and my desktop. what now?
edit. The file is in the correct place - it reads the file and says checking image and then says invalid image. Last edited by wetbar; 06-11-2010 at 09:35 PM. |

Sounds like your DL is being corrupted somehow. Maybe turn off virus protection/firewalls for a minute while you DL? Could be a corrupt SD card too. Have not heard it talked about in Evo Land but it is something I've dealt with before in WM world. Try a DL from xda, hang a sec.....(edit coming) EDIT: TOASTS THREAD *This could be the EXACT same link that Fast has in Post #1* but it may be worth a go?
