Like I said before, when the iPhone came out At&t made a whole new data plan just for the iPhone $30.00/month. This phone has features that no other phone has, as SlopokDave was saying in his post (i.e. Youtube HQ, video chat and uploading 720p). All that means more data usage on the Sprint Network, which in return mean Sprint has to maintain the network so it functions at the speeds we all want it to. The Sprint Rep u talked to probably doesn't even have full knowledge of what the phone can do so she probably just said what she thought was right.

I disagree because if you aren't eligible for the rebates you are paying the $449.99 for the phone now so that doesn't make sense. Also Sprint really doesn't make much off phone sales. They make their money off your monthly plans. That's why the old call and threaten to cancel your service trick worked so well, they stand to lose a lot more money if u cancel and pay the $300 early termination fee than they would if you stay on as a customer for another two years paying a monthly bill.

Re: All Evo 4G Pre-Order Discussions Go Here

This is the exact reason I avoid the cantracts and insurance when I can. The math is in favor of sprint while it works to attract new customers its not Ideal for someone like me whos been with them for 10 years. By the way has anyone else noticed everytime they change something i.e. new phone, bill,or package. there are suprises on bill.....

Hope you and SlopokDave are right. Wouldn't make sense otherwise. The technical specs do read WiFi "Capable". Other Sprint phones read WiFi Enabled. Hmmmm....

Now that would be the tip of the iceberg....if using wifi is going to cost me $30 ....I am not buying this phone. Sprint has buried itself.

Re: All Evo 4G Pre-Order Discussions Go Here

Just pre-ordered from Radio Shack. I was surprised to learn that you cannot pre-order unless you are eligible for an upgrade. Has this been anyone else's experience? Fortunately someone in my fam is up for an upgrade that they are letting me use.

Re: All Evo 4G Pre-Order Discussions Go Here

I pre-ordered mine without being eligible. The rep I dealt with even called someone to confirm if they could sell it outright with no contract

I was never asked if i was or not. Then again I was the 1st person in BBY to pre-order it.

For what price?

Also, I saw the Radio Shack documentation on the computer that said in order to preorder you must be eligible for an upgrade or add a new line. The clerk you worked with must not have looked through the details thoroughly.
