Re: New plan changes for EVO 4G???
I for one will not be happy if i have to pay extra for 4g especially since 4g is totally non existent in my area HECK 3g is barely usable. If its less than $5/mo more i will deal with it. More than that, I will just keep using my touch pro 2 and go to t-mobile when they get a comparable android device or go to vzw for the incredible.

If Sprint plays games with the plan, I'll just hold out for T-Mobile to get a phone I want. |

I wont doubt the hspa thing but I definitely put no stock in their claim to having bigger coverage than sprint. They have coverage here in Atlanta and its still the worst service coverage wise that i've had out of every provider i've been on... and ive had them all. Dropped calls, dead zones... or just plain phone outages for no reason whatsoever. I cancelled my line with them and stayed with Sprint. Yes they are cheap but so is their coverage. |

With me it's just the opposite. I can't get a good Sprint signal inside a building. It just fluctuates from 1 or 2 bars to the roaming triangle. I'm hoping it improves with the launch of 4G, because it actually used to be better than this. |

On a side note, it would be nice if the 4G network coverage was the same, or better than the existing 3G network, by the end of next year. I want to use 4G everywhere!

Re: New plan changes for EVO 4G???
Hopefully sprint hurrys up and figures out if voice and data is confirmed in a 4g market. Once that's confirmed and the phone is rootable I'm sold. Hopefully sprint makes the right move and activates some new cities with wimax, that too could help sell the phone. We were announced last year to get wimax so hopefully we will be one of the early releases for it.

Re: New plan changes for EVO 4G???
From everythng I've been reading, the Walmart thing was just a rumor and there was nothing to it. It would be nice, but I don't think it was true.
I have also been reading that Sprint plans to launch Wimax in a bunch of cities at the same time they launch the Evo. So if your city is on the list to get Wimax this year, it will probably happen when the Evo is launched in a few weeks. I care more about good 4G coverage than I do about the crappy voice coverage around here. I hardly ever talk on the phone anyway, but I use data all the time. Fortunately, I have read that there are a lot more 4G towrs in my area than 3G towers, so 4G reception should be better. I fully expect simultaneous voice and data in a 4G area, but I don't know how it will handle good 4G reception in an area where you are roaming on voice. |

Re: New plan changes for EVO 4G???
In theory, the two should be independant of each other. Since the 4G radio will be separate from the 1X/Ev radio, you could be roaming on voice/3G, but have strong 4G signal. And, right now, there's no such thing as roaming with WiMax, as there are no other carriers at this time. That will change in the next few years, I'm sure, though.
