Welcome to the revolution!
QFE.

I've been dissatisfied with WinMo since the TP1 came out in 2008. At that time, my only real other option was the iPhone. Although WinMo is a dead OS now, I still feel that WM6.5 is a better mobile OS than iPhone OS 3 is. What it lacks in speed and ingenuity it makes up for in customization, hackability; not being a "walled garden". HTC has worked very hard to make the WinMo experience acceptable, and IMO, they have succeeded. They've given the OS a much needed face-lift, and the Sense experience is refreshing. Hell, Sense has come a longer way in 1.5 years than WinMo has in 5. *chuckle*

I use Android on my TP2 from time to time, and when we get sound, battery, and GPS fully working, I'll use it all the time (if it's done before the Evo release). My gf also has a Hero that I love to use as well.

Android is just a better platform. Period. It's so fluid compared to other mobile OS's. I'm excited to be a part of a community that's open source, especially as a developer. I won't have to worry about submitting my apps to the "App Store" and get them rejected (read: Apple). I can't wait.

Re: Which OS are you switching from for the EVO?

Ok I have a couple questions! I have the Touch Pro 2. It was my 1st smart phone ever. I had problems with it and had to hard reset it 2 or 3 times with Win Mo 6.1. All of a sudden it would lag and be so slow and Touch Flo 3D wouldn't load. Then 6.5 came out and all was great until a week or so ago same thing happend I had tyo hard reset. Don't know if it had to do with something I installed on the phone or what.

Well Now all I've been doing for the past few days is reading up on the EVO and watching videos. I know my phone now is HTC and I don't think I'll have a problem adjusting to the EVO and Android at least i Hope not. And my main concern is I text and email alot. I love the touch Pro 2's keyboard yes I love having a phsyical keyboard. I've been trying to practice now with the onscreeen one which I know will be bigger on the EVO. Someone mentioned with Swipe it makes it so much easier what is that? I guess I can Google it. Also is there more Android Apps put there then Win Mo? I have a Sirius App and really hope Android has one. And I know nothiong about Android verses Win Mo but I do know I have my Touch Pro 2 just the way I like it with different cab files I have installed and I have a cool see through clock. Will I be able to like download another clock on the Android like I did for my Touch Pro 2? I need to read up more on Android and check out there Apps store? Is it online to look at?

My upgrade is due in June and I am switching to the EVO. Me and my friend who has the BB Tour are both so excited and can't wait for it to come out.. And I've seen so many videos it looks awesome and I am excited about trying the Android. My coworker has a Droid and likes it a lot.

From what I have seen the HTC Evo is simple to use has a huge screen with a applicable on screen keyboard. as far as apps I found THIS though Google. We (the people at PPCGeeks) wont be developing anything till after it comes out.

Personally I love my tp2 keyboard as well but oh well evo here I come. But one thing that should help you out quite a bit it that the android OS has speech to text built in, so just hit the little icon thing on the keyboard then speak and thats it. Just go to youtube and you can see how its done, very easy IMO.

Re: Which OS are you switching from for the EVO?

Thanks Everyone! It took me a while to get used to Win Mo and I still don't know everythign about it. I download and install cab files for this and this but have never doen any rom flashing or registry tweaks nothing like that. But I have this background for all tabs and a cool crystal see through clock that I love. But this HTC will be similar with the favorites and weather will probably animate cool like on my phone now. And I think with the bigger screen I'll be ok without the keyboard but I forgot about the text to speech. Someone said they went and tried it out on the Incredible and it worked really well. My friend has a BB and uses Vlingo. But I bet I use the text to speech alot.

But I am hoping to get used to the onscreen one as well. I need to read up on what Swype is that someone said they use now on the touc pro 2 for using the on screen keyboard that it makes it easier. But I am glad to see that I am not the only Touch Pro 2 user switching to the EVO. I haven't had my phone that long but I've had to hard reset it 3 or 4 times. I still think one of my programs was causing it to lag and be slow and not load. I am going to look at the Android Market page later at work on break. Thanks Everyone! Can't wait for this phone to come out. I have an old Archos video player that I never use anymore but it has a kickstand on the back it was cool..

Well as far as short texts/emails, using the onscreen keyboard will do just fine but for the long stuff I may use the speech to text and from the youtube videos it looks like it works great.
