call sprint tech support and having them reset your data profile on their end. your phone will automatically reboot during this (did for me anyway).

... then ...

Go to the dialer and enter ##3282#
Select "Edit Mode" on the popup
Enter the 6 digit MSL
Select "Data Profiles">Menu>"Restore"
Phone will reboot in 10 seconds or you can select "OK".
"Hands free activation" will appear after phone reboots followed by PRL update and then firmware update. (Go ahead and update PRL, but DO NOT UPDATE firmware.)

... do a profile update as well...

solid signal and speeds now...

Could you tell me how you figured this out?
Getting my EVo3D in a few days and this would have been a deal breaker..

This solution should be sticky-ed

Re: Problems... Dropped calls and no signal

Where would we find the original firmware? When I activated mine it asked for an update and I did it, so can I go back to the original ROM?

Re: Problems... Dropped calls and no signal

Save all your stuff and do a factory data reset. Menu-->settings-->SD & phone storage-->factory data reset.

This will put you back to stock without the updates. It will soon ask you to update but cancel it and your good to go.
