didnt the current evo come out at 199? seeing the expected upgrades i can understand the extra $50

its not that..its just that carriers are experimenting..$200 was set by the iphone..but carriers are trying out to see how much lea-way they can get..I mean THEY CAN give it out for free if they wanted to..but they try to maximize their profits...(which I dont blame I guess since I remember when we paid 350$ for phones..then again plans were cheaper and no $10 fees...)

Plans were cheaper? Huh? Its currently the cheapest I've seen it and I've had cell phones since the days when they were fixed in my car.

The reason for that is that the fact the Iphone and the epic use Colors: 16.7 million (24-bit) rather than the Evo's 65,536 (16-bit) which makes it look washed out compared to Iphone and the epic. You can tell the difference when you stretch, zoom or print out your pic from the Evo that the 3 million additional mega-pixel come in handy...but most people wont do that! They also could of went back down to dual 5mp rather than a dual 8mp to save money. There aren't that many 8mp cell phone in the U.S. but it now a standard to see 5mp, and the longer something is out the cheaper it is!

umm..so something now can beat old sero plans with $10 discounts + 20% off? I mean they even removed discounts per line stuff..its definitely the mot expensive its ever been..people are sticking to old plans for a reason...my friend has 5 lines for 75$ and 3000 minutes..whats the best current price on that?

Thats not the reason..the 5mp cameras in Epic/iphone are definitely better then the EVO..all MP are is a container...if the Sensor is not good enough to match the container it is pointless..just uses up more space..

Realistically 3MP is already over 1080p....and 5mp is pretty much a standard piece of paper printed at 300dpi..so effectively 5mp is enough for most consumer uses..

and do consumer printers even print 16million colors?

I remember getting my TP and at that time 299 then you get a rebate of 50 or 100, i forgot which.That was a lot of beans. i think that was the most expensive for a while. The Tilt which was the same phone essentially was 150. Now 200 is the norm. For a while, the outgoing TP2 was still more expensive that the EVO.

I wont be surprised if they keep it at the same $200 price tag. Im sure it will be extremely hard to do so but they have to look at the long term gain and how that helped the Evo gain some Iphone customers from AT&T.

Especially with the likely hood that they will be going not continue Wimax build outs and that they may be switching over to LTE in the future.

A lot of tech nerds get these high end phones and will know all about these things and will likely hold off till next yrs Evo comes out. Its not like changing up the upgrades of the premier customers helped in the least. A higher price point on top of the fact a lot of us that upgraded last yr will not be able to upgrade this yr on a discount.

Where have you been? Plans were cheaper back then. I had the sero for $30 with any three numbers and 6 pm night minutes for only $5. Plus unlimited data and messaging and any phone would work with this plan. You tell me where you can match this plan today.

But they will probably keep it at the $200 pricing. If it had a keyboard they would probably raise it. But then again they might raise it since it's 3d. They will always find a way. Just look at what att is doing with tethering. Companies should not be able to tell you what can do with your data access but att is. All these companies will continue to treat customers like money bags as long as they can get away with it. Sprint just hasn't done as extreme as att or verizon. Soon tmo will be just like att now that they have been bought by them.
