Edit: Looking into the issue skype for verizon video calling was suppose to come with the Thunderbolt but got delayed due to issues..the moment it lands im sure in a week someone will hack it to work on all phones as they ddid before.

On what phone are you referring to? The thunderbolt no, because it's designed to work for it! Far as the Evo is concerned, yes you need to be rooted!

I don't see a mention of 4G or EVDO and the 3G specs seems GSMish to me too..it could be they just copied and pasted off the Desire 3D (or whatever they call it) and called it a day..
