Re: TomTom Navigator 7.9 VGA Version

They do cover most of the same things, but they're different maps. NA are more detailed and you probably have some TTS in there that won't work on Navigator.

My question had really little to do with the geography, but more to do with the differences in file size...the NA map file is almost twice the size of the USA_Canada file. I suspect it has to do with POI's and TTS files in the NA maps. I've subsequently downloaded the smaller v.815.2022 USA file and find it no different than the previous 7.4xxx maps in map detail. I've added my favorite POI's and voices, and all is good with the world! Thanks for your wiki reference.

Has anyone had trouble reactivating their maps after flashing a new rom? I have heard problems with this, but would like more first hand experience.

Sorry, can't help you there. I haven't had any problems with this, as the Device ID stays the same regardless of how many times you flash.

Re: TomTom Navigator 7.9 VGA Version

So can someone tell me which map version is most up to date and will work on Nav 7. I want to buy it from TomTom website but can't seem to find NA maps on the Nav 7 tab, since Nav 7 is only supported in Europe. Any help will be appreciated.

675 NA maps work out of the box with this. They are not the newest, but they work well.

We can't discuss as to how to enable the newer maps to work, because that would be illegal, and don't want to get anyone, including myself, in trouble.

I am asking which map version would be the best to buy off the tomtom website. Last time I checked this wasn't illegal. Does anyone know which map version is most up to date for Nav 7?

I just told you. V675 are the only ones that will legally work. v815 are the newest maps and wont work unless you illegally make them work (thats what I was referring to as being illegal, not your question).
