Did you have to reactivate maps or anything like that?

No reactivation. simply installed the cab (actually I made an oem and cooked it into a rom using calc's kitchen). The upgrade is suppose to be faster and allows you to navigate to a picture. It also supposedly intergrates better with footprints...we'll see!

9196 installed fine for me, but I did have to reactivate. I haven't gone outside to test it out yet, but it so far it looks the same as 7.45.

I see no way to purchase US maps on TomTom's web site. I downloaded TomTom Home, but it refuses to recognize the Touch Pro as a valid device.

Don't know if I'll get a response since this post is old but here's my question..When you upgrade from 7.4 to 7.9 do you need to uninstall 7.4 first + Does your device id change on the new version..Sorry for the stupid question..Thanks in advance

Re: TomTom Navigator 7.9 VGA Version

Sorry for bringing this thread back up, but I thought I'd share my experiences (and fix) with map v6.65.

TomTom recommended I upgrade to Navigator 7.9.x.x when I plugged my phone into my laptop. I installed this, and my map could no longer be found, despite working properly in Navigator 6. Since I read on here that 6.75 map worked great for people, I played around a bit with the files. Here is the solution that worked for me to get map v6.5 to work with Navigator 7.9.x.x:

Navigate to the directory that has your map. For me, this was \Storage Card\USA_and_Canada. Open USA_and_Canada.pna with a text editor, and you should see something similar to the following:

Code:
ID=USA_and_Canada.pna
147037397
665
build=1293
id=64682
Change the 665 to 675 and save it. Open up TomTom Navigator, and you should now have the option to select your map. Hope this helps!
