So let me get this straight... You called them and explained the situation of receiving a phone that was obviously linked to someone else's account, that you aren't that person, and they said it was not a problem?

If this is accurate, and sprint is good about taking these charges off of the fraud victims' accounts, then all of us might be out of the water on this one.

I spoke with 2 different people, one who I demanded bring this situation to his manager. I was put on hold for about 5 minutes while he went and spoke to his manager about this, so all 3 individuals assured me this was legitimate.

Not fully convinced, I then called Asurion. Asurion told me not to worry, that since the ESN was able to be activated by Sprint that everything was ok. I repeated my story to her and she said it was no problem

I would hope that both companies would not be so negligent as to just ignore my concerns, but unfortunately it's not impossible that they did so.

Yea, well since this whole theory is speculation in the first place, I'm going to go with the speculation that DOESN'T make me lose sleep.

Until I see otherwise, I'm no longer worrying about this.

Re: Diamonds on eBay

i bought my lkcarter505 too.... thanks for whoever posted under his feedback that he was fraudulent, i had no idea, i just bought the phone and a few days later the feedback was posted. i haven't received the phone yet but i was curious to see if anyone has heard of this happening before and if the phone company did blacklist all the numbers a year down the road. I read in another forum that as soon as you activate the phone it will be alright for some time, however, if you try to sell it to someone a year from now then when he tries to activate it, it will be blacklisted.

Right now, since I can't do anything, I'll just wait and see. Only thing we can do really.

Re: Diamonds on eBay

I bought a diamond from the vegasgoin guy, aka dmilton (i assume as the sales page was exactly the same). I ended up filing a paypal claim and it was immediately escalated and after the waiting period I got my money back no problem. I also recently sold a personal phone on ebay and paypal is holding my funds until the time has past for a claim to be filed. it's sort of annoying, but seeing how the system worked to get me reimbursed, i understand.

Also, I found the person that had the paypal acct for the vegasgoin transaction and spoke with her father and emailed with her. She is a 20ish year old mormon girl who had her identity stolen. She said she has all the different names being used on ebay with her identity and that the FBI and state are investigating.

On another note, I ended up buying a Diamond off Ebay from a power seller with 6 years of history and like 2000+ transactions and 99.8 satisfaction. Phone came straight from him - i received it 2 weeks ago. Interesting thing, he's now no longer a registered user - just like that. I haven't had any problems, the phone was brand new in original packaging and never opened. I just wonder why after being a long time ebayer he was pulled?

That *looks* like the same seller as dmilton111, 2k9cantstopme, 2k8vegasgoin and his other 900 ID's. The only reason I say that is that the wording is exactly the same (for all of those ID's too), the 3-10 days to ship, and the tracking won't be available until it's delivered, etc.

I'd tell you to call Sprint or Asurion, but they'll tell you not to worry; that doesn't mean that at some point THEY won't contact you (it doesnt mean they WILL either).

Do you have insurance? If you don't you really *can't* be billed anything, but rest assured, someone elses insurance was most likely billed to fulfill the order for your phone, so someone down the line will be paying the 50.00.

If you DO have insurance, keep an eye on your account.. my theory (posted a few pages back), suggests that the seller is using person A's insurance to send person B their phone, then using person B's insurance to send person C their phone, and on and on (this does not apply if YOU don't have insurance, you can't be charged for something you don't have).

But, bottom line, there's a chance nothing will happen, then, theres also a chance something will. It boils down to if someone gets hit with the 50.00 charge for your phone, and how they pursue the matter.

Were you able to get that email address, or will you not be in work until tomorrow?

Won't be at work until tomorrow. I'll PM you a phone number you can *try*. I haven't really read through all of yours posts, but did you end up getting a 50.00 charge, or are you just preparing yourself as a worst case?

If you're just preparing, I don't expect that even the email address I have will garner you the results you may want, they only seemed to want to help me, because it'd already happened. Either way, you can give it a shot.
