Depending on how your usage staggers your battery polling, you could see some drastic drops in battery life.
though what you say is true to an extent, I also know finding out the exact charge on a battery is usually a very power intensive activity, it effectivly has to send the power through a resister and take a reading based on that output which is like running a short on the battery for a short time.

Re: Battery Fix

If this changes the polling interval of the battery charge from 5 seconds to 20 seconds and people are seeing an improvement in overall battery life, why not change this value to 60 seconds or even a few minutes? I don't need the battery level exactly updated every 20 seconds by the phone. I'm going to change mine to 5 or 10 minutes and test and report back.

Thanks.

I was wondering the same. Looking forward to your report. There are other "polling" values throughout the registry. I wonder if extending any of those would make a difference as well.

I've had my phone plugged in all day today to the computer since I've been playing around with other progs. I'll check over the weekend and report back.

Re: Battery Fix

I have been using Juicy 2.4.1 for about 1 week now. I work in a hospital. For the past 4 days I normally go to work around 5AM and battery is normally around 20% around 8PM that's with about 30 min talk time and some internet < 10 min. Today I didn't go down to the OR where I get no bars because I was in clinic all day where I get 3-4 bars, and by end of day 10 PM, the diamond is still showing 70%. I think battery life is pretty good, but it seems the lack of coverage really kills the battery life on this phone. However, I think this is the case with all phones.

Re: Battery Fix

Background: I charge my phone from 11PM to about 7:30 AM daily. I go to work at 9AM, and by noon I am usually at 40% or so. I edited the registry last night. Unplugged this morning, used my phone as usual all day- surfing, talking, etc. Did not check battery until 7pm, and it was at 40%. I've had the Diamond a little over a month, and this is BY FAR the longest the battery has lasted. My .02 worth, it works, no question.

Re: Battery Fix

Just remember that this isn't a fix for people that might have additional issues with battery/phones. If you are not experiencing any dramatic battery drains but would like to get a little more battery time out of your phone, this fix might help.

If you have intensive programs or bad batteries or even a bad phone, then this regedit won't do squat for you.

Side note, it seemed like I got more battery life out of Juicy 2.4.1 then I am out of 2.5. However, I can't say that I am doing exactly the same things since 2.5. I was running the 1% battery status with the better looking battery icon and I know that can drain the battery faster. I also installed Gyrator which certainly won't help an already heavy drain.

There has been some inconsistencies though since I have been on 2.5. Today my drain was far more than it was yesterday with not much change as far as what I did on it. Activesync might have been a good part of that since mobipush didn't seem to want to sync.

Sorry I've been away for a little while. I changed mine to 5 minutes, seemed to make no difference whatsoever. You can try it yourself, it's just a simple reg edit, it definitely won't brick your phone.

On a side note - my battery life lately has become really flaky.. A couple days ago my phone spent the day sitting on my desk as usual. I made only 5 mins of calls and maybe 20 texts, same excellent coverage as usual. But the phone went from 90% to 30% in about 5-6 hours. Almost no use, no open progs, CPU use was minimal. This kind of thing happens randomly.. I really hate the battery life on this phone.
