Re: Remote Desktop on Diamond
thats the exact same one i'm using... hmmm.. ok something isn't right here... i'm sooo mad cuz this should be real simple! I connect my phone via usb and put my actual computer name in and user name and password and it WORKS! but when i disconnect and change the computer name to my "real" ip address, it won't connect... what if i have a wifi router that is security enabled? Is that an issue? Cuz i've done EVERYTHING in the settings here!

so having a wifi router that is password protected doesn't effect this in anyway? Last edited by syanni85; 10-02-2008 at 10:36 PM. |

Re: Remote Desktop on Diamond
The password protected wifi router has nothing to do with it. As long as you can connect via wireless and confirm your wireless connection by browsing the Internet, then you are connected to the network.
I can about 99% guarantee you that the issue is a setup problem on your PC. |

Re: Remote Desktop on Diamond
It normally is
My ranking of likeliness of issues: 1. Windows not configured properly 2. Router not forwarded 3. Firewall [router or software] blocking 4. ISP Also, if you are connecting in-network, make sure you have your internal IP set to static. To do so, use: Start>Control Panel>Network Connections>Right click on your connection>Properties>Double Click TCP/IP from the list>Set Manually [These settings can differ between routers, the following configuration is mine] IP Address: 192.168.1.105 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1 Primary DNS: 4.2.2.2 Alt DNS: 4.2.2.1
