Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2
Anyone heard any details from Sprint on whether a Whitestone variant of the TD2 is coming to the carrier this month? I was hoping to see the HTC HD2 (or a variant) but that appears unlikely at this point. My contract is up but Sprint will not get me to renew without a solid upgrade path from my HTC Touch Diamond. I would consider the TD2. TP2 ruled out as I don't need the keyboard or bulk. Right now with the exception of the Pre and Pixi, Verizon seems to be getting quite a few interesting smartphones. I may switch carrier depending on what news comes out of Sprint this month.

Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2
The HTC HD2/Adonis on sprint thread has a couple people claiming a whitestone is coming. But you know those reps are quite unrealiable. I say wait until the end of the month and see. We'll probably know by then.

Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2
I am not sure what Sprint's incentive would be to wait so late to release the TD2. At this point, it would be the amongst the last of the major carriers to release a TD2/Whitestone device. The price point for a TD2 is already dictated by Verizon and AT&T at ~ $150-200). A lot of potential buyers of the TD2 have already bought the Hero or Pre or switched carriers (to get the Moto Droid, BB Storm 2, Imagio, or Fuze). Verizon and AT&T released both the TD2 and TP2 within a short time frame giving customers a choice between similarly spec-ed WinMo smartphones with some differences (keyboard being a big one). I am still holding out for a keyboardless Whitestone-like cell phone to replace my Touch Diamond. My contract is up and I am free to go anywhere now. Within the next month, if Sprint has nothing interesting to offer, I may switch carriers and also take my wife's account with me. I saw some recent statistics on the major carriers. Sprint was 3rd largest and continuing to loose customers while Verizon and AT&T were adding. Clearly they are doing something wrong and one just can't blame the iPhone as Verizon (which uses the same CDMA technology and has no iPhone) is growing. Sprint needs a more diverse phone lineup to cater to all comers. Right now the Imagio on Verizon (or Pure on AT&T) are natural upgrade paths for me given the prior hardware and software I have already invested in.

Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2
Perhaps they want to have a fresh smartphone to advertise for the holidays?

Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2
Let's hope if that's the case, they don't price it above their competitors like they did with the TP2. I don't know how fresh it will be when everyone else already has a variant of the same phone. They would be better off pushing the new Palm Pixi and their Android phones which no one else has.

Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2
For now I am actually very satisfied with my TP2 (coming from an original Touch). Even if the TD2 came out, I don't know that I would use my upgrade discount on it. I am going to either wait for the HD2 (if Sprint ever gets it) or just be happy with my TP2 until WM7 comes out.
