I am not sure what Sprint's incentive would be to wait so late to release the TD2. At this point, it would be the amongst the last of the major carriers to release a TD2/Whitestone device. The price point for a TD2 is already dictated by Verizon and AT&T at ~ $150-200). A lot of potential buyers of the TD2 have already bought the Hero or Pre or switched carriers (to get the Moto Droid, BB Storm 2, Imagio, or Fuze). Verizon and AT&T released both the TD2 and TP2 within a short time frame giving customers a choice between similarly spec-ed WinMo smartphones with some differences (keyboard being a big one). I am still holding out for a keyboardless Whitestone-like cell phone to replace my Touch Diamond. My contract is up and I am free to go anywhere now. Within the next month, if Sprint has nothing interesting to offer, I may switch carriers and also take my wife's account with me. I saw some recent statistics on the major carriers. Sprint was 3rd largest and continuing to loose customers while Verizon and AT&T were adding. Clearly they are doing something wrong and one just can't blame the iPhone as Verizon (which uses the same CDMA technology and has no iPhone) is growing. Sprint needs a more diverse phone lineup to cater to all comers. Right now the Imagio on Verizon (or Pure on AT&T) are natural upgrade paths for me given the prior hardware and software I have already invested in.
