Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2
I hope sprint is not banking on the hero because that just went out the window. As for jumping ship i would want to consider that but verizon cant even come close to matching what sprints giving me. I tryed when the lg dare came out and when i told them i had free incoming call mobile to mobile internet and night's and weekends at 5 the girl almost had a stroke. She told me she would jump ship if she could get all that it would cost almost 96 buck plus tax if i jump ship to go to verizon. So kinda like my plan now but i do need a new phone if we can get a leak or something to keep us going i'd be happy with that at this point when at&t beats you to the punch you know somethings wrong.

Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2
My contract ends soon so I am on the fence right now waiting to see what Sprint has up its sleeves. The other carriers have released their WinMo 6.5 devices and I like the Verizon HTC Imagio. However, I prefer Sprint's phone/data plans. I don't see the HTC Leo coming to Sprint anytime soon as it has just been released in Europe and is expected in North America in Q1 2010. What would be a huge surprise is if Sprint released a HTC Whitestone/Imagio design with a 1 GHz snapdragon processor and the new HTC HD2 Touch Flo version. Given that the HTC Diamond2 has been out for some time and the Imagio/Whitestone is now on Verizon, I am not clear why Sprint is waiting so long to release an equivalent phone. One guess is to not compete with sales of the upcoming HTC Hero. Another guess is that the device may be very different from anything else released so far and be essentially a CDMA Leo equivalent (perhaps with a smaller screen e.g. 3.6 in). If the latter is the case, I for one would be happy I waited. The absence of leaks from Sprint doesn't surprise me because the Imagio was not actually demoed/physically manipulated in the public arena until very close to its release despite early leaks of the form factor. Recall that ai.rs blog had detailed photos of a prototype Touch HD2 (Leo) long before I saw any similar photos of the Verizon HTC Imagio. I for one would welcome more leaks from Sprint's employees.

Re: Sprint Touch Diamond 2
jamess661 I think I will be waiting for now. I have a Sprint HTC Touch Diamond. It is only 1 year old and except for the larger WVGA screen, 3.5 mm headphone jack, WinMo 6.5, and a few other things (like memory slot), the Touch Diamond2/Imagio is not that much better that I am willing to "pull the trigger" yet. The HTC HD2 however is another story. The hardware + software combo makes this the new killer phone to have from my perspective (especially after viewing the feature set on the HTC website). PPCGeeks is speculating on their frontpage that it looks like the HD2 will not be going to Verizon or AT&T since they respectively have the Imagio and Pure already. These phones are very similar to the HD2/Leo. Thus, the HTC HD2/Leo would cut into their sales. Perhaps this is the reason why certain sites kept reporting that Sprint was not getting the Touch Diamond2/Whitestone. All along, Sprint may have been set to get a CDMA version of the HD2. Only question if that's true is when this will be released (this year or Q1 2010), if it will be the same form factor (e.g. Pure vs. Imagio), or even go by the same name. I would be willing to let my contract lapse and wait for this phone before locking myself to Sprint for another 2 years. My wife contract with Sprint ends early Q1 2010. Great timing.

- I'll skip the incremental TD2 upgrade - I'll wait for the HD2 - I'll go with the carrier that gets the HD2 Maybe Sprint will get it - that would explain their silence on the TD2. But, no matter, if not Sprint, then I'll switch to whomever carries it. I'll send a message to Sprine e-Care asking about it, and telling them that this is the phone that will cause me to take my 10+ year, $200/mo, multi-line private account elsewhere. (Not that I expect "Chad" in the Phillipines call center to care...) |
