I've had this problem for years with multiple pda phones (formerly an XDA and an XDA II - both GSM devices) I've used a wide variety of stock and custom ROMs for each of these devices and always had this problem. At one point, I was convinced that it was related to switching between cell locations. Too bad this still persists over 6 years after my first windows mobile device purchase.

Yeah, mine seems to do this as well... It's annoying when it's no my desk at work cause I'll see it light up out of the corner of my eye then stare at it for about 5 minutes before realizing it's not going to do anything else!!
lol... good luck... |

Are you using Sprint or Verizon. If it is Verizon and you are setup to use the wirelesssync software that is what is causing this.
The software on the phone is causing the light to turn on every time it checks for a data connection. I don't know if there is someway to turn this off, but if it is really annoying change your backlight timer. I use a program called phonealarm in which I am able to set my phone to different settings at different times during the day. In phone alarm, you are able to change your display to turn off after a certain amount of time when the phone is not being used. Example: When I am home during the days and sleeping, I have all alarms silent and the backlight display set to 10 secs. Don't know if this helps, |

since moving to AKU 3.x i no longer suffer this problem w/ or w/out phonealarm. and man... did it piss me off to, especially on long trips at night the phone would turn on constantly and i kept looking at it waiting for the "ring" or SMS alert to go off before getting annoyed and hitting the power button, only to have it light back up a few minutes later. It's a Verizon phone. Sorry, I thought VX in VX6700 was a Verizon prefix. Learning all the time. (Is it vx or xv? I see it both ways all over the net.)
I have never touched that wireless sync program. Clicking on it brings up an installation screen which wants to connect with the data service (a charge for me). So I'm not touching that until someone says that's the only way to fix it. Thanks for the Phonealarm tip, but it sounds like a coverup rather than a fix. It's no big issue really. I've been tweaking this phone for almost a year now and this issue is the one thing I've left to resolve. You know how something is 99.99% perfect and there is that one little thing that would make it 100%....? You can't just let it go when you're so close. |

Oh, and you are almost correct, for the Verizon version on the 6700, it is XV6700 rather than VX6700. You just flipped the X and V around. |
