saridnour,

Before ever installing your rom, I had installed another one for a short time. That's where I must have picked up those ext rom apps. I'd always thought it was part of your installation. That's the dumb news. The good news is that when I soft reset before the customization starts, there is no voice announcement and no Guardian in startup. The bad news is that after putting VC exe in windows and fixing button #5, I'm still getting soft reset lockups.

Try using ##786 send. The codes work for me if I input them that way. ##code Send
I tried that but it still doesn't work for me. Anyone having similar issues?

jendand: Did you notice if it soft-locked before you added VC? Also the the button 5 fix should be in place, all you should have to do is map button 5 in the button app. I did test pr6 MANY times soft resetting looking for the soft-lock. Same build your running now and did not see it, but I did not add vc into the memory nor map it and that could be the issue.. possibly. My private rom that I am normaly running has vc in the build and mapped from the get go.. but it does not soft;lock for the most part. Then again it could have something to do with the first boot and the arragement of the startup apps at a level I can not see.. just guessing here....

lkjfdsa: May be a dumb question, but are you on sprint? VZ uses different codes... just want to make sure as we have seen others fall into this

I can't access the internet, or wifi. I installed the MSN .cab file (I think it worked), but It still won't work. I have Verizon.

Any suggestions?

Also, I have Wisebar Advance 2, can I uninstall Wisebar light and use my advance version?

Read the thread. The first answer was given multiple times - one specifcally to me when I asked. If I remembered the setup off the top of my head I'd give it to you. But it's a 2 minute fix if you bothered to read the thread.

saridnour,

Yes, I understand about the #5 button. About three weeks ago, I did some pretty exhaustive experiments and found that there were no soft-lockups after install of pr6 before installing VC. The lockups started after VC was moved to windows and the button was mapped. Of course at that time, I may have had that ext rom stuff in there, so I decided to experiment some more. But I didn't want to hard reset again. Here's what I did instead:

1. I unmapped button 5. Continued getting soft-lockups.
2. I removed VC exe from windows and deleted lnk from startup. After this, I got NO soft-lockups.

This confirms my earlier experiments.

When VC is in startup the order is VC, Wisbar, poutlook, ClearTemp and I get lockups. When VC is removed, the order of the rest stays the same and I get no lockups.

Interestingly, as I had noted in an earlier post, when I installed Mortbuttons, it put itself 2nd in the order of startup. I then got NO soft-lockups. Could the problem be the timing between starting VC and then Wisbar? Might the problem be eliminated by just changing the order. I've tried changing it with SKTools, but I can't. Either I'm doing it wrong, or perhaps you've "fixed" the order in the rom somehow. (?)

jendand: I do not know if the order can really be changed outside of forcing the vc to be loaded for everyone as I could only see a difference when I set the start order for first boot. Maybe you should try mapping the vc to button 5 but leave it out of startup. That way after a soft reset, you would only need to hit the button to start it and get it running resident. Also if you forgot to get it running resident, you could always get it to run by pressing it twice.. just thinking aloud right now, but that would get you past the issue. The only other thing would be to do a custom rom adding the vc to the intifiles and the exe to the rom then re-package it. this would allow your startup order to match mine. But again that would require you to build a custom rom.

In the event you want to try the custom, here is what I have in the initfiels dat for startup:

; Startup Folder
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("coldinit.lnk","\Windows\coldinit.lnk")
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("CheckAutoRun.lnk","\Windows\CheckAutoRun.lnk ")
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("Welcome.lnk","\Windows\welcome.lnk")
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("wisbarLite.lnk","\Windows\wisbarLite.lnk")
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("poutlook.lnk","\Windows\poutlook.lnk")
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("Voice Command.lnk","\Windows\Voice Command.lnk")
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("ClearTemp Startup.lnk","\Windows\ClearTemp Startup.lnk")

Hey jenand, by chance have you UPXed your voicecommand.exe? I had in earlier days, but stopped when I realised that it gets unzipped (essentialy) into ram to run when the file is UPXed. My voicecommand.exe is 368.0k that could be a place to look...

nuguy: Not sure. So far I have yet to hear anything that is really an isssue with this rom relative to a fetrue in the final that is missing. I have done a lot of custom work to PR6 that I could try to roll back into the final, but since I never really worked form any of the beta's I am not sure if we would gain anything. Odds are it may get me close to wwhere pr6 is now and could actulay casue issues and or slowdowns.
Other than the soft-lock issue, most everything else is known and has a work arounf as far as I am aware and comparable to other AKU 3.5's that are out..
Anyone feel free to start a compare list of any missing features or other things that may be an issue between pr6 and the 3.5 kitchen final.
