saridnour,
Lockups on soft reset has reared its ugly head again. At least, I know exactly what caused it to start again. Some time ago, I had installed Mortbuttons, which placed itself in windows startup. While it was there (2nd in order of startup; VC was first), I never had a single lockup on soft reset. However, when I uninstalled Mortbuttons, immediately I started getting the lockups again. Tried changing the startup order with SKTools to see if that would help. But I can't seem to change the order. Anyway, this convinces me more than ever that these lockups have something to do with the order or timing of startups, or perhaps the particular programs that are in startup might be a factor. Any suggestions? jendand |

jendand: I know its an issue with the start order, but for the life of me I can not find whats actualy causing it. It so odd as you can remove almost everything from startup and it still will lock from time to time. I would really recomend backing up your data and doing a hard reset. Then see if you see it after restoring the backup. I think at the first intilaiztion of the devie that it's making some config changes and preventing the lockup. Restoring it would get you right back to where you are and possibly without the loackups if the changes are elsewhere in the registry. I have not added anything to my startup so I am still not seeing the soft-locks other than a once in a blue moon ocurance. Might be interesting to see a registry snapshot compares of your entried before and after a backup restore.

saridnour,
I regret to report that I botched the backup/restore. I was using SKTools and after the hard reset, I realized the SKTools backup file was empty. So, I just reloaded a couple of my apps, including VC, of course. I'm still getting the soft reset lockups. I notice I don't get the voice saying "all systems are functional" when I soft reset now. I notice some folks are removing HTC_CM_Guardian from startup.

jendand: I never advocated using the gaurdian app. I only use the Iota and the 2 sprint custom cabs (if on sprint). Did you test for soft-locks after the hard reset and in between loading your other apps? Also I am not sure what you are talking about as to the voice "all systems are functional". This must be from another app you are running.

saridnour,
I'm really confused. I just now did a hard-reset plus customization of pr6. On soft reset and right after the Intel Inside Idiots Outside screen, I hear "All systems are functional." Also, in startup, I find HTC_CM_Guardian. This is before loading anything else. Are you saying these things are not in your rom? Where did they come from? jendand |

jendand: You say "plus customization" are you talinkg about a custom extended rom? If not, what are the customizations you are talking about? The gaurdian app should not be in the rom as the rom is carrier independant and would not force sprint configs (would guess this is added in your extended rom) also it does not have any vocal sounds so again would have to guess that would come from the extended. Try a hard reset and then go through the wizard, but soft reset prior to the "customization" dialog as this will stop it from running and see how the device differs from when it runs.
