storage card disappearing

I've been running r2 + outlook fix for a few days now. I've been noticing that the storage card seems to disappear. I've tried ejecting and re-inserting, but only a soft reset will bring it back. Will probably try r3 and see if it still happens.

Other than that it's working great. Installed Palm Messaging and also working perfect.

One question, you say we can just copy over the .exe of our registered versions of the trial apps, but how would you suggest going about the process? I just installed XCPUScalar since it's pretty small, but if a full Voice Command install can be avoided, it would save a nice chunk of storage.

Oh yea I almost forgot. Now when I get a picture mail (MMS) and click the link, I am getting the full Sprint site instead of the PDA version. I tried changing the IE user agent strings in the registry back to the old values, but no help.

bbobrian: you need to copy the files from an install (as install the apps and copy the bits, then hard reset to clear things out and then re-copy)or extract them from a cab. So for xscalar, just take the exe and copy it to the windows folder. Also for MS Voice command, all the other files are in place and registered, so you would only need to copy the EXE into the windows dir as well. Copy a file to a rom dir will supress the rom version with that that you copy. This allows for upgrades to system files and such.

There was an issue where the storage card was having issue with a 3rd party app copying over the storage drivers. I believe this was one of the SPCS cabs set to run at first boot. I can't remember the file right now but there was a fix to it on this forum. It to had to do with files copying over the system Rom files, but they were earlier versions and thus causing issues with aku 3+. This may not be your issue, but a good place to start. I have not experienced any stroage card issues. The only issue I have seen so far is an ocasional lockup after a soft reset. I think its timing with the other apps along with the GWES change, but I am still looking at it.

Hi,

Sorry disappeared for abit there...

I used the menu to not load at startup. left them alone. I tried just scalar it still reboots, but soon as I disable wizpanel and reset it freezes.

Nothin personal I just like to point at icons, rather than play with huge menus on a tiny screen.

scalar is ok, just don't wanna buy it, the phone runs fast as is.

I built my own and am playing around now. It is a bit of a fun. I see now why all you guys make everything worse as you tinker.

Subtle changes have big effects...

If you need anything else let me know, I am happy to debug. This phone may freeze, but It seems to be impossible to brick it. ( famous last words)

thanks

I loaded the latest on my Sprint 6700 and I lost all my ## phone codes and smart dial.

I then kept going and installed the SmartDial+EtenO2ENG_2.0.cab and everything came back. My ## codes now work and so does smart dial.. Very odd.

Other than that everything is working fine..

I like the new EV and 1X icons.

One other thing.. Why is Clear type on for only E-mail? I cant seem to turn it off.

Also when I start a new SMS or e-mail it no longer autofills in as I start to type a name or an e-maill address in the to: field. I have to press the right softkey and then Add Recipient...

Is it a reg key or change to turn it back on?

edit: hard reset meaning clear storage to remove the remnants of my last ROM

mcevoke: cpuscalar is not just to overclock, but more to underclock. When sitting idle my device clocks down to 200mhz and saves on the battery. I agree though, the AKU3.3 is fast enough to not need to be overclocked, usualy . On the Wisebar, you may just wna tto turn off the cascading menus and just use it as a task manager. The task features are where this shines!.

mdecker79: Not sure about the autofill, somone posted here about this on other roms as well. I just use flexmail as this does it all for me. the inital version of my Rom had only the reporting features of pOutlook as I only needed that as flexmail covered the rest. In pOutlook you can also click on "to" to bring up the address listings.

TinMan: Not sure about your hard reset issue. That should be independed of the OS loaded so it may be a hardware issues.

I did run into one problem since installing this ROM. Every so often my SD card would disappear. A soft reset would bring it back, just like bbobrian said in an earlier post. I didn't load any of the sprint junk (my ext rom only has ring tones and themes in it). I don't know what caused it, but i seem to have solved it by doing the following hacks:

================================================== =======
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\States \Suspend
dsk1 - 2 (DWORD)

Prevents the SD Card from going into suspend; the main cause of DSOD
cam1 - 4 (DWORD)
Forces the camera to turn off during suspend, saving power.

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\States \Unattended
wav1 - 2 (DWORD)

Prevents the sound card from turning off while the unit is unattended mode.
================================================== =======

I found these somewhere on this forum and have saved them to a word document, i can't remember now and i am not trying to take someone else's credit.....however i do want to share my experience so that someone else may benefit.

The disappearing SD card seemed to happen more after i installed SPB mobile shell, not sure if its a coincidence or not. But it seems to be resolved for now....i will post back with updates periodically. I am using the R2 release with the fixes for Poutlook and Pimag. I will be testing R3 in a week or so.

Hate to bear the bad news, but just this morning on the way to work my SD card dissappeared...

I don't know exactly what I was doing before it happened, but I did get it to appear again once I took it out and placed it back in.

I never had this problem with R2, but I probably didn't have it long enough (about a week). However... I did just upgrade to R3 last night
