maybe we should all just demand that the ppc-6700 be upgradable to the newest versions of Windows Mobile AKu 3.x and also Windows Mobile 6 or maybe we should start a classaction lawsuit on sprint for forcing us to purchase a lesser model that is slower in cpu speed and features the Palm 700wx

Man this is a great idea. I wouldnt even mind starting a letter to sprnt asking them for it. or at lease to open it so people like the admin in this site can do it for us.

I dont know if this is a problem but before the sprint things installed there was a green battery indicator on the bottom right and after the installation of all the sprint things it gone. how can i get it back. and if anyone knows how to put the button lock in the program folder or on the menu. that would be cool so i can take it off the today screen

I have been running on AKU 2.2 for several days now and haven't noticed any real problems yet. I have noticed some quirky wifi behavior but have not characterized it well enough to attribute it to the new rom.

BTW I found Wideawake's install instructions very straight forward and informative. I am looking forward to trying one of his custom roms when ready.

Installed AKU 2.2 and now all hell is breaking loose with my phone...

Soft buttons randomly stop responding, Wisbar Advanced 2 crashes, phone locked up for the FIRST time...

Also, Voice dialing is a no go with the plantronics 510 in AKU 2.2 I guess... Because for the life of it, The Voice dial button on the headset works, But the phone simply does not begin the voice dial program...

Oh yeah, On that note, almost forgot... Screwed up my Hardware Buttons too... Voice dial button no longer works , and so much as tapping that button brings up Voice Recorder regardless of which program I set it to...

I think Ill stick with the previous SPRINT rom for now... Give AKU 2.2 another try later when that custom version comes out...

Great site! Been lurking around for a few months registered few weeks and finally starting to post. I decided to update to this Aku2.2 today and everythings great. Only problem I notice now is when I go to google, it automatically goes to the PDA version of google. I tried doing a hard reset and same thing. Is this part of the Rom or one of the add ons I might have used? I am using the Trianglepowers PPC-6700 Hacks / Total Commander / PHM Reg Edit / Arcsoft MMS / Genocide Device Status on Today / .Net CF 2.0. No I have not edited any reg files.

Thanks in advance. I been trying to search this forum and others but seem not to find what I'm looking for.

if you use the trianglepowers hack, just set PIE as IE... that will stop it from going to google mobile... also if you just scroll the site down, there is a link that says "Click here for full version"

Thanks alot using PIE works. But, when I don't and I go to the Google page there is nothing on it saying "click here for full version". Thanks again though!

even tried doing a full hard reset with all the sprint ware and still goes to google.com/pda.

Thanks for all your help.
I wish I knew this before I started freaking out The 2 main computers here at home have Vista on them so I figured I could just plug the phone into the server (Windows Server 2003) in the spare room. WRONG! Didn't work on that but it might have been because I didn't have ActiveSync installed on that computer. I dusted off my media center PC and did the upgrade via that one instead. Glad I was able to get iit going...my wife would have killed me if I told her that her phone was now a paperweight

Hey Mike,
2 dumb questions for you...

1.) Is the version in this post any different than in the "Beta testers needed" post for 2.2? If it is different, is there any reason to run this one too?

2.) How do I find out what version that I am currently running? In the Device Info page:
ROM version: 2.11.20WWE
Radio: 1.27.00
ExtROM: 2.06.303
PRL: 20224
PRI: 1.19_003

Thanks much Mike!!

1. yes, beta testers is my custom make of 2.2.

2. we are talking builds so its not listed in the device info, its in the about section. that bein said, if u bootscreen says telecom its aku2.2, my beta testers say alltel, and if it says sprint ur aku2.0 I think even tho I've heard it called 2.1.....
