I wish I knew this before I started freaking out
The 2 main computers here at home have Vista on them so I figured I could just plug the phone into the server (Windows Server 2003) in the spare room. WRONG! Didn't work on that but it might have been because I didn't have ActiveSync installed on that computer. I dusted off my media center PC and did the upgrade via that one instead. Glad I was able to get iit going...my wife would have killed me if I told her that her phone was now a paperweight
