I have installed this and has worked perfectly with two exceptions. One is the weather tab, it never connects "unable to bla bla bla." And the other issue, is on the today screen the "No new (voicemails/text/sms/etc)" menu, works fine with the exception of the voicemail. When I hit the tab to connect to my voicemail it dials *86, I don't know if thats what its supposed to dial for verizion but I'm running on sprint, and I get a message from the operator saying it doesn't recognize the message. Anyone encountered these problems? ](*,)

jmyler 11-28-2007 06:04 PM

Dude LOVE it, awsome job on everything. I was running the old original version of WM6 and was ready to throw this thing across the room. I think this version fixed all my gripes about the old one. For one, when i click on the messaging button on the home screen the messaging acctually opens!! wow glad to have the transcriber back! when i slide the phone up it acctually switches orientation in a timely manner, thats a huge plus. When i text the phone keeps up with me!! even when the suggestions are turned on. Overall i'm pretty freaking happy.
So here's the "but"..... i miss sodoku!! and yatzee surprisingly enough. i liked the games, and i know that was part of the stripped down version but was wondering if there was a way to get maybe just those two, or i would settle for sodoku.
either way =D> and :headbang:

jmyler,
Remember the theme of Robs rom is Clean, No Junk. If you want extra games, you can always download them and install them directly. Googling for [freeware pocket sudoku] turns up a bunch of candidates.

kewl i'll have to try to find one.

I really like this rom... clean and simple. I have just found HTC Home Customizer v0.8b. It requires the HTC Kaiser home plugin. Is there any way to remove HTC Home??? I installed HTC Kaiser and now I'm stuck with two versions of the Htc Plugin. Anyone have any ideas? Rob, Maybe you can cook up a super plain and simple wm6 without the HTC plugin to add in HTC Home Customizer v0.8b later.

ibedanny 11-28-2007 07:58 PM

If i Use Helmis Kitchen can a create a Rom like yours rob? It seems like you put more into it.

tapeworm 11-28-2007 08:06 PM

I installed the Kaiser, then I did a hard reset and it worked!

Sergio 11-29-2007 03:23 AM

Rob, you da bomb! Your no junk in the trunk version rules . Thanks.

You must not have hard reset. Hard resetting would remove everything you installed. A soft reset should do what you wanted, though, so I suspect that's what you did.

You can build a rom like Rob's. He's moved a few things around, so it'll take some effort to make it exactly like his, but you can get close fairly easily.

When I installed Kaiser, It gave me two htc homes. It was pretty weird. I inunstalled Kaiser HTC Home, that when I looked at today config, It seemed like it uninstalled htc standard.

tapeworm 11-29-2007 07:04 PM

I had the same thing going. I had three tabs instead of 5 and I had two clocks. I hard reset the whole phone, and somehow, the old HTC home uninstalled, and I have the kaiser one now with the working weather. I had to reload everything else I had in there, (touchflo, cube, etc).

Cheeser 11-29-2007 07:30 PM

What am I doing wrong here?

1. Get into Bootloader mode - check.
2. Plug in USB cable, screen changes from Serial to USB - check.
3. Run APACUpgradeUT_noID.exe - check.

**4. Upgrader says "Checking the information on your device" but I can still hit Next, where the screen says "Your device is about to be upgrade from ... to ..." However all the version numbers are blank (for both the old and new).

Anyone have a suggestion? I'm getting a replacement unit tomorrow via warranty but wanted to try this ROM on my current phone in case I brick it. ;)

rxb216 11-29-2007 08:40 PM

i think my version number was blank for both of my fields also, but the upgrade worked just fine for me

gguruusa 11-30-2007 02:09 AM

That's normal behaviour if your phone is already in bootloader mode. Just proceed on. If your phone is not already in bootloader mode, you'll get a few of the fields populated - but sometimes the ruu utility has trouble switching you to bootloader.

Maybe rob can cook up a rom without the HTC home Plugin so you can add your own version.. I dunno, only the great Rob can say. I would like to try out the HTC Home customizer. I'm having all sorts of probs upgrading to kaiser home.

KHENAULT 11-30-2007 10:24 AM

Can someone post the current download link? It's tough search through 46 pages.

Good luck!!!

Druu 11-30-2007 07:48 PM

Hi, I love your roms, just went to B7 last night. I have a suggesting though, is there anyway you can cook the HTC home customizer into the rom? When I install my own it seems to not recognize that one is installed already and wants me to install another HTC home. I do like having the character count back on the text messaging though, that really helps! But I miss the data always on :P.

robmayer 12-01-2007 10:47 AM

Well, I would except for the fact that I think the new version of HTC Home in B7 is incompatibile with the HTC Home customizer. I know someone else mentioned me cooking a completely stock ROM so that the user could install any HTC programs needed, ect. I may do that. But as far as I know the HTC Home customizer is incompatible, sadly. I miss it too though, especially being able to change the clock face. Of course if I do figure out any way to make it work I will put it into the ROM itself.

To Everyone:

Everyone: If you have a request that requires my direct response, please send me a pm. I am unable to keep up with this thread sometimes and I know there are a couple people that are waiting on me to answer something. Just go ahead and pm me, I'll be able to answer your questions better that way. If it's general stuff, post on the thread. Thanks.

Rob

omg ur awesome robmayer tyvvvm.
ps also all i did was click the auto install type thingy is that all i do

JohnBecker 12-03-2007 09:51 PM

Quite impressive. I've upgraded mine this morning. I like it but found a few issues.

1. Save to Contacts doesn't work. It just takes you contacts, but doesnt let you add the number (this is when you click from phone history)

2. Gonna have to find a better 'call waiting' sound. It's barely audible even at full volume

3. I don't care for the HTC home screen. It doesn't scroll in landscape mode. Poor design on HTC's part if you ask me. You can't see the bottom of the page, plus the weather just wouldn't work.

4. After receiving a text message and opening it, its scrolled down so you can't see the top of the message.

5. SlideSound did crash on me once, but I haven't seen it do it again yet.

6. Smartskey works differently than I was used to, but I know that's just an INI change.

So far, all of my apps seem to work with WM6. That makes me happy. I was even able to install most to Extended Rom and save the storage space for other stuff. I generally have my apps on a storage card and access them with shortcuts. So far so good. I'm happy with version 7.

akareem27 12-03-2007 10:09 PM

freshly installed wm6

i just installed a fresh bare wm6 b7 rom on my 6700 sprint and it looks good,it feels good. i just installed touchflo and the cube and it cool.i just have a lotta ?'s
what else should i install?
my align sceen doesn't work? (but right now everything is lined up fine)
r there updatesfor these roms?
if so do i have to re-flash a whole new rom or do i just run an update?
and if so wherer the updates?
thanx 4 any help

JohnBecker 12-04-2007 06:03 AM

Install your favorite apps. If you want updates, you'll have to reflash the ROM and reinstall your apps again. I keep all of my cab files handy for a quick reinstall. Use the PIM Backup utility to quickly restore your contacts info before and after a re-flash.

Voice dialer

Does this build have a voice dialer? I see that the Cyberon was removed but is there something else in it's place. I am planning to get XV6700 but would like a voice dialing capability. If there is no voice dialer in this ROM, any suggestions (especially for one that works with BT headsets)?

LOL. Atlease I can get weather from my Home Town Tho. ;) Thanks Rob!

JohnBecker 12-05-2007 06:14 AM

Purchase Microsoft Voice Command. No training is required. Version 1.6 works great with my BT.

PS: I figured out the 'save to contacts' issue. Obviously it was a change in WM6 that I didn't realize. You have to click NEW and then you get the option. Otherwise you can save it as an existing contact and overwrite what's there. Pretty cool actually.

I also LOVE the Audio2BT. I can now hear my SlingBox TV through my earpiece! That's absolutely wonderful !

PM's

Ok, ok... I know I posted earlier about sending me a pm if you have any requests or questions and now I have a little bit of email piling up on me as well as some posts on the thread. I will be doing my best at getting back to all of you in a timely fashion so just hang on there and I will reply as soon as possible. Thanks. Rob.

YES, to get weather to work, you will have to delete a Registry entry...
I cant remember the exact key location but its in HKLM\

You can do a search on this forum and you'll find the key that needs to be removed.

See the sticky on "Stuck in Bootloader", but not the one that has 2.04/2.05 in the title. It will get you going.

envy,
It's a documented bug in the kitchen's device lock app - so practically everyone has it whether they know it or not.

Ahhh, didnt notice it. Thank you for clearing it up to me. I am pretty new to this stuff, as I recently got my XV6700.

robmayer 12-05-2007 11:19 PM

Thank you TMB XV6700! You have helped out a lot on this thread, I really appreciate it!

TMB_XV6700 12-06-2007 08:46 AM

You're welcome Rob. I'm not a user of your rom, but if I see a quick chance to help then I try and keep things rolling. Kind of like moving the laundry from the washer to the dryer (hopefully without the shrunken blouses and sweaters).

mangust 12-06-2007 07:28 PM

I installed the ROM on the XV6700 and looks great so far, thanks Rob! The only problem so far is with SPB Pocket Plus 4. It causes Activesync to drop connections and introduces general instability where the device becomes unresponsive. Anyone else tried this version yet?
