Great Job!! Nice and Light ROM..!!!
I will download now..!! whait for my news...!!

Sorry for my English..I´m from Venezuela

Thank you very much! I have been working very hard at making these ROMs for the last 2-3 days or so, and I really do appreciate all of the comments... and yes, please do post feedback on what you think. Lastly, keep an eye on this thread for the next week(hopefully not that long though), because I should have some updates out fairly soon. Already one for Verizon, just haven't uploaded it yet. I plan to do my best and perfect these ROMs as much as possible.

Seems to run pretty good! Nice cleanup. I was wondering though, my friend has a 6800 and his today screen looks more like the WM5 and I know he has WM6. Why is mine different? I actually like this one better! Good job again!

bigsizzle 10-15-2007 05:18 AM

It's the HTC Home plugin that your friends 6800 is missing most likely.

Yeah, I know... WM5torage was a nice little app. I left it alone at first, but then it seemed that a lot of people wanted this rom Completely OEM. Here is the link to he newest version though: http://www.freewareppc.com/communica...m5torage.shtml which is 1.78 beta 2

very nice cap'm, I been waiting for this. Helmi's release was great, but really laggy. I had xcpuscalar set to 416 from 0-15% CPU load and all other CPU loads overclocked to 614 or whatever..so I'm really running the hell out of my Apache. Maybe this will help and I wolnt have to overclock! Or maybe I still will..the results should be good either way! Thanks again m8

also, I wish Pocket Sand was like the real Hell of Sand game http://www.addictinggames.com/hellof...llinggame.html
the explosions make the game worth it IMO

nickm 10-15-2007 12:27 PM

Rob the BT problem seems to be am issue with WM6 and a few problems with WM5. I removed both *bit registry entries and it seems to be working fine, unless I use more than 1 BT items at one time. I have a BT keyboard, mouse and stereo head set. If I use the mouse and headset at the same time it skips.

I ran the ROM all night ad the battery seems to have had very little hit to it. But the orignail work just as good.

Torx 10-15-2007 02:42 PM

SWEET! i hope you give us sprint users the .2 update as well. ;)

GnatGoSplat 10-15-2007 03:22 PM

I'm thinking about trying the Generic in my Alltel PPC6700, but will the Alltel customizations that occur after a hard reset still occur, or will they be removed with this ROM?

Also, does this still have the HTC Home Plugin and other HTC apps like Helmi's ROM?

Lastly, is there a way to integrate the HTC Phone Pad into this ROM, or do I need a kitchen to integrate it? The OEM WM5 for Alltel came with HTC Phone Pad so I would like it in an OEM-like WM6 as well (it is also the most convenient input method for one-hand operation).

nkawal 10-15-2007 09:20 PM

using your sprint ROM since first day, running smooth since, is there more update to this like you did for verizon...

Supermanwoot 10-16-2007 11:15 AM

I'll be testing the rom today hopefully if you can get version 2 online.

I'll use it for a few days and donate if everything goes well! I'm hoping this fixes some problems I have been having with other WM6 roms.

I hope this version works out better for you, let me know how it goes after a little while. By the way... Hell of Sand kicks ass.

Sprint v.2 on it's way today! Well, I hope... I'm a little busy, but I should be able to squeeze it out. That is if I stop getting "Internal Server Error 404" every time I try and make a post on here. ](*,)

Alltel customizations will be there depending on the last ROM you had on your phone. If it was the stock Alltel ROM then they will probably be there. No, they are not removed by this ROM. I am working on that and it should be built into the v.3 update. Anyway, if the customizations do load, just perform a soft-reset right before they run. Yes, this ROM does have the HTC Home plugin, ect. and I believe the default phone pad you want is the one built-in to this ROM.

Thanks for your willingness to test my ROMs, I appreciate it. Version 2 has been posted for Verizon and Generic devices.

Thank you very much for the compliments regarding the WM6 development. Your input is very much appreciated, and I hope you enjoy the v.2 update even more! Please, let me know what you think after you use it for a little while.

denti 10-16-2007 07:15 PM

hi, i'm very new to all this rom stuff and have been reading. I've currently have helmi's wm6 installed by following the directions. would love to install the generic as i'm on Telus but i don't know how to go about installing the ROM.
Any directions? sorry for asking a stupid question

shakuyi 10-16-2007 07:40 PM

hey rob dont forget to remind everyone about performing a soft reset before carrier customizations otherwise text wont work and you have to hard reset and bla bla bla anyway to fix that? btw thanks for a kick ass ROM works flawleslly

robmayer 10-16-2007 07:40 PM

denti,

Here are some instructions to get you up and running with my new rom...
First, go ahead and download the v.2 rom specific to your carrier(which I believe you said "generic") from my first post. Now, you will want to make sure your data is completely backed up on your device. If so, go ahead and place your 6700 in bootloader mode. Do this by holding the voice record button and power button simultaneously while you press the reset button with your stylus. The backlight should go off and it should say "serial" at the top of the screen. Now go ahead and plug the phone it via usb to an XP machine(not vista!). Navigate to the compressed folder you downloaded containing my rom and extract it. Open up the folder and run "UpgradeUt". Follow the steps, wait for the rom to complete, then hard reset your device and your good to go. Enoy! I hope this helped. If you need any more help, feel free to pm me anytime.

robmayer 10-16-2007 07:48 PM

Thanks Shakuyi, I think I'm going to go ahead and put a note about that in my main post. This is going to be a main fix in my v.3 updates. v.3 is going to auto-wipe the ext_rom upon flashing. Hopefully will be released shortly after I get the Sprint v.2 up for download.

denti 10-16-2007 08:12 PM

thank you robmayer. installing now. will report back if i have any problems though i don't think i will :)

1up 10-16-2007 09:08 PM

I would love to see a customizable HTC Home plugin like the one in this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=609

I have other programs I prefer to use for favorite contacts, weather, launcher, and music, so I don't really have any use for anything but the main tab with the clock and notifications. Actually if someone could strip the plugin down to the clock with notifications, and no row of tabs below that at all (so it's a bit smaller on screen), that would be sweet. :)

Other than that, I like it! Been running smoothly with the Verizon rom for a couple days now with no glitches. Nice work!

As far as the HTC Home plugin goes, I'll look into it if I have the time. It may be a little complicated, but I'll see what I can do in furture updates. I'm glad the ROM is working out nicely for you though. Of couse, if you encounter any bugs feel free to let me know.

Sprint update v.2 now available for download: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=9841

Torx 10-17-2007 03:07 PM

great work! one question, why is there a documents folder in the programs group?

i dont know how everyone feels about the file explorer by dutty thats default..
and i know the oem explorer is still in there.. just wondering if its worth switching back or should we all just keep it.

but so far so good with v2 thanks for the hard work!

whats the purpose of modem link if theres already the great working internet sharing?
whats the purpose of file dialog changer in the settings? looks pretty useless to me.

avaya 10-18-2007 09:27 PM

Any chance you could remove the windows live search.. or upgrade to the latest version just released yesterday.

v2 for sprint is working great btw.. thanks for the great ROM

thanks

avaya

hayabusa 10-18-2007 09:48 PM

maybe?

In next Generic version (V.3) is possible the new MSN MOBILE MESSENGER? latest version?.. and no LIVE SEARCH and ADOBE READER.. for ROM more speed?

Great Job my friend..!!! Great Job!!

hayabusa 10-18-2007 09:49 PM

a question: the 1.43 Radio version is compatible for Generic V.2 ROM, or is ONLY for VERIZON?

greetings from Venezuela...

nickm 10-19-2007 12:40 AM

still problem free (SPCS v1). Ill keep this till my new card gets here. Then Ill have to update.

christianpeso 10-19-2007 12:52 AM

Works Great!!!

I loaded Rob's clean rom version 3 from Helmis WM6 and it works GREAT!! A little more responsive and a little more free memory. It already took out alot of the extra stuff that I didn't need. Thanx Rob for this and thanx to Helmi for starting all of this!!!:headbang:

Catman51 10-19-2007 02:02 AM

Version 3! I just put Version 2 in and it's working good.
Think I'll wait a little while to do version 3, as I thought a Sprite Backup would restore my progs after the upgrade.
Found out the backup was corrupt, along with a couple other storage card programs.
Think it was from something I installed and uninstalled.
So am now putting it all back by hand, which it probably needed anyway.

Torx 10-19-2007 05:42 AM

been running v3, no probs so far!
been doing my usual routines and some extensive testing i usually dont do.. everything seems to be fine!

roger that!
i am loving it.

WesWilkey 10-19-2007 07:53 AM

This is a great cleanup!!!

I loaded the Sprint V3 and so far very good. One issue I came across though. If I try to download a cab file off the internet with PIE it doesn't prompt to save it, it just opens it in the browser like it thought it was an html page, but obviously you get garbage. Sonds like the MIME types are missing. Perhaps in the reg cleanups? I haven't tried other file types yet.

Thanks again.

JClay 10-19-2007 09:38 AM

YO... let's all remember the hard work and laborious effort that Brother Rob has put into these Clean Releases! Make sure you share your gratitude with a good word and a donation if you have it – let’s make sure he knows how much we appreciate his continued work with these ROMs.

ls6tt 10-19-2007 09:42 AM

figure Ill post this here versus starting a thread, but I am considering this ROM to replace my WM5. Will my WM5 apps work with WM6?

hayabusa 10-19-2007 10:01 AM

Question:

The Verizon Radio 1.43.. can be used in a Generic ROM (Eg. V.2)???

Grettings from Venezuela...

cjbreisch 10-19-2007 10:32 AM

Been using Sprint v2 for a few days now. Works great! And I've used the HTC Home Customizer with no problems. I would prefer if the ROM either didn't include HTC Home or had HTC Home 2.0.x rather than 1.5.x, but I can live with it. That's a very very very minor nit.

The only significant nit I have is that SOTI Pocket Controller doesn't like this ROM. It takes me two times to connect every time now. Always used to connect first time every time. There could be settings I can alter on either the desktop or the PPC to fix this. I haven't looked yet.

I will upgrade to v3 next week unless there's a v4 by then. Right now I want to stick with v2 for a while longer.

Thanks for all the hard work, and I will certainly contribute!

sfld 10-19-2007 12:46 PM

Is there anyway i can change the phone app?? I like the one on kirvins better.. it seems i can dial a number but theres no way to actually place the call via touchscreen? Maybe im doing something wrong.

robmayer 10-19-2007 12:58 PM

Hey everyone! Looks as though ppcgeeks is back online! Anyway, I see I have had quite a few responses and questions since yesterday. I am actually out for the day today, but when I get back home I plan to respond to everyone's post as soon as possible. Until then, take care, and keep up the posts!

Rob

sfld 10-19-2007 01:02 PM

Also another question... in the sprint v3 rom it says htc task manager has been disabled by default... does that mean i can enable it somehow?? or do i need to actually install the task manager again

sfld 10-19-2007 01:16 PM

hey rob my office is in warren btw lol
