Thanks, and yeah... post all the feedback you can. I really appreciate it. I will probably refine this ROM a little more later based on some of the feedback I get.

Also, this goes out to anybody... Can anyone give me a COMPLETE list of every single file used by Resco File Explorer, Resco Registy Editor, ECT. I think I got rid of them all but I want to be 100% sure. There were a few suspicious DLL's left over that I wasn't quite sure if they belonged to Resco or not, so I left them alone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

he5acann0n 10-13-2007 01:47 PM

can some one do this for sprint

shakuyi 10-13-2007 01:48 PM

yes that would be awesome to have this for sprint please

Torx 10-13-2007 02:58 PM

verizon only?
someone should do a clean sprint WITHOUT any games except oem.

Trident 10-13-2007 03:23 PM

I've been hoping that someone would do a Sprint ROM like the Verizonguy edition. I was hoping Saridnour or Colonel would do one, since they did such a great job with the AKU3.5 ROMs. But my personal belief (and there is NO basis in fact or hidden knowledge behind this) is that we aren't seeing one from Colonel because he knows or is working on the next official ROM and/or Kitchen. The conspicuous absence of most of the 3.5 ROM makers on this board and their listing in Helmi's "credits" leads me to believe that they are working on something new to release.
I just did my first hard reset since installing WM6 44 days ago and everything seems to be working OK (I only did it because I didn't like the results of the SP1 update and just removing it didn't help anything).

Did somebody say Sprint? No games except for OEM? Well, ask and you shall recieve. Do I have any beta testers??

gilesmartin 10-13-2007 04:18 PM

just let me grab it. i will test it

Torx 10-13-2007 05:18 PM

^^^ lmao

i'll be willing to test.
i just sampled helmi wm6 sprint for a day now and i havent begun to install any apps.. so im open to another hard reset ;)

but i think trident's ideology is right..

robmayer 10-13-2007 05:36 PM

Cool, thanks a lot guys. I should have a Sprint ROM going by tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest, hopefully.

jusinjusin 10-13-2007 05:55 PM

Man, I downloaded it, thinking it was for Sprint. Hah, I guess I can wait more!

Torx 10-13-2007 06:27 PM

robmayer, is there a pocketpc cab file viewer available?
the only one i see around is "MagicCab", you have to purchase it though..

ive been trying to find a nice cab viewer that lists the exact files and where they are put..
but no luck so far. Maybe theres one that everyone else is using?? maybe someone here or on xda

I'll beta test a Sprint ROM. It needs to be over the weekend so in case it screws everything up, I can restore my phone for the work-week. :???:

Ah, what the heck, I'd even try it during the week.

jrod155 10-13-2007 10:28 PM

did a search didn't see anything,

does one need to downgrade back to oem rom before putting on this new rom?

No. But if you're going to change your radio, you might consider doing that first. Some people apparently had some issues with updating it after installing WM6, but it wasn't consistent.
I went straight from a custom AKU3.5 WM5 ROM that I created with the Kitchen to this one.

seang 10-13-2007 11:00 PM

no love for the alltel ppl :(

Haha, yeah... I'm sorry about that. It was Verizon only but today I was just persuaded into compiling a Sprint version, so you are in luck my friend!

Hmmm... this would be a useful tool, although I think MagicCab is your best shot. I have looked around for quite some time and MagicCab is pretty much it for now I guess. I'll let you know if I come across something though. But yeah, If someone on here from XDA should know, let me know too pleease!

Good man, that's what I like to hear... someone who is willing to go where few ppcgeeks have gone before. Good news though, I got a hold of a PPC6700 and have been doing some testing today already and all seems to be going very well so far. Hope to put it up for download around midnight or so...

Trident is absolutely right... listen to him, he knows his stuff. Personally, I sometimes like to flash OEM if i have done a lot of flashing back and forth just to make sure I have a "clean base" before i go "permanent" for a while, if you know what I mean. That's just me though...

----------
Well, I am pleased to announce the fact that I have completed my Sprint version of Apache Clean WM6 and it should be available for download shortly. Afterwards, while awaiting feedback from you guys... I will be doing some more fine tuning on my Verizon version and should have an update for you soon.

Lastly, just as a sidenote: Time is very valuable... I originally started this project for personal use, but then thought the community could benifit from it as well. Trying to squeeze this in along with my other daily activites can be quite difficult, possibly making this a short lived endeavor. So please, if you feel it worthy and are willing to keep these projects alive, feel free to send a paypal donation to rob.may3r@gmail.com and it will definitely help me be able to put more time and effort towards this.

Sorry seang, didn't see your post before I finished replying to the others above. Time is kinda short these days, I had a week off work and am going back Monday. I'll see what I can do for a Clean Alltel ROM. Anyone else interested, please post and let me know.

Sprint Apache Clean WM6 posted for download, go check it out, I hope you enjoy it! Please post back with any bugs, comments, requests, or anything else you would like to see me add(or subtract). Keep an eye on this thread... if time allows, I'll post updates as often as possible.

JD8052 10-14-2007 01:43 AM

Hello,
First off I’d like to thank you so much for getting rid of the many unnecessary applications installed onto the WM6 upgrade. I’ve only had one problem just now, the MiniSD cannot be found, I'm not sure if it's because of this Clean ROM or just the OS itself. It was recognized just fine earlier, but now it stopped working after about 6hours of use.
It’s only showing (in file browsers and Memory under Settings):
RAMDISK2 and EXTENDED_ROM2
Any ideas as to why, or should this post be relocated to another thread?
Thanks Again!

The "Clean" ROM shouldn't have anything to do with it, as for all of the original OS files have been left in tact. This has been known to be sort of a problem once in a while with Windows Mobile devices and a proper solution hasn't quite been reached yet. How about when you remove the SD card and re-insert it, does it come back, or do you have to soft-reset? Also, what is the brand and size of the SD card you are using? Thanks for your question, hopefully we can get this solved for you.

JD8052 10-14-2007 06:44 AM

Found it, it's the Opera web browser that causes the problem

Last Question (Sorry):

After the ROM update should the device still auto customize itself? Mine isn't, I just wanted to make sure if it is/isn't supposed to do so (Verizon Version)

Hey no problem, ask all the questions you need to. As far as the Extended ROM running the customizations at first boot is a matter of whether or not those files are left in the Extended ROM from the stock ROM. But either way, even if they do run, you do not want to them them run with any WM6 ROM for Apache. It can cause some serious issues. What i suggest is using the Ext. ROM Unlocker tool in the WM6 ROM, deleting any files in the Extended ROM, then you can use it for extra storage. Lastly, if the customizations ever do run after flashing or hard-resetting your device, simply soft reset when the message saying "loading verizon/sprint/ect. customizations in x seconds" or whatever comes up, then do what I said above and delete the Extended ROM.

NLANA 10-14-2007 09:55 AM

Can you please release a Generic rom for the rest of us. T.I.A.

nickm 10-14-2007 11:54 AM

I am running it with only 1 problem. Its been on my phone for about 4 hours. The only thing I have found wrong is the BT skipping. I am working on deleting the 2 BT registery entries to see if the BT stereo works any better

Rob,

Does this mean more memory is available for Storage and Programs?

Thanks to Helmi_c for providing this ROM. Without him, WM6 may have never been seen on the Apache.

Catman51 10-14-2007 01:28 PM

I downloaded, and unzipped but don't see the file I need to run it. Going to wait the 99 minutes and try downloading again.

Edit - Or is it the enter Bl file that I run?

Errr... yeah, I guess I can try. Time is getting tight and I start work again tomorrow after a week I had off. I'll see what I can whip up today, or maybe tomorrow in the car, haha.

That is kinda strange, I actually don't use bluetooth too much. However, the core OS file's have not been altered from the OEM WM6, so I'm not sure. Did it do this in Helmi_c's version as well?

Yes and no. Space as far as the normal user is concerned, no. However, it does clean up space in the ROM, so if a kitchen is released you have a little more room to put some "bult-in programs" of your own into the ROM before you cook it. The purpose of a "clean" rom is basically just to have a rom without any junk attached to it... junk that clogs up you device and could even potentially slow it down.

I believe enterBl.exe is the file that puts your device into Boot Loader mode before flashing. Try ROMUpgradeUt.exe, that should be what your looking for.

You and NLANA had basically the same question. So, the answer is yes... hopefully. Time is getting a little tight with me, but I will see what I can do today or tomorrow. I'll do my best.

Thanks robmayer..!!! when you can.. no problem... thanks..!!

Thanks robmayer, so far so good with no problems or at least nothing I could not figure out after reading a few posts here and there. Hemi's version is great but I do like the cleaned version much better.

Thanks a lot Torx, I really appreciate your help! Now, as far as your question... to be honest with you, I'm not really sure. I have been doing some checking into this but didn't want to tamper with anything possibly OEM when I released it. I was in a little bit of a hurry because it seemed everyone was really pumped to have a Sprint version. Once I figure this out, I'm going to release my next update though. What I do know for sure is... Live Messenger, Windows Live and Plugin, and Wireless Modem are OEM. Audio Manager, Streaming Media, and HTC Home are technially OEM. Those are programs you get built-in with any HTC pocket PC. In the mean time, I'll be checking into this. Thanks again...

Tripster 10-14-2007 04:12 PM

I'll test an Alltel one for you.
