I'm getting an error with verizon v3 that says "RAPI.dll" was not found. Any ideas? I flash with the PC im trying it on all the time :\

Torx 10-19-2007 04:31 PM

rapi.dll, isnt that something to do with activesync and not the rom?

Zlog 10-19-2007 04:35 PM

yeah thats what confused me. I was able to open another synch file.

le sigh.

Will have to probably reinstall activesynch.

Zlog 10-19-2007 04:38 PM

WOW, ROB I COULD HUG YOU.

THANK YOU for using a Vista compatible flasher. I decided to give it a try on my main PC and woosh there it went :D

Flashing now, we'll post my feedback!

Is this WM6 upgrade worth it over the present WM5 installed on my Sprint PPC-6700? Would it use more of the devices RAM?

I'm sorry guys, I know there are a lot of questions floating around on this thread. I have had a really busy day, but I should be back on track tomorrow morning. I'll get everything answered then, and hopefully will have some updates coming up.

focusedlife 10-19-2007 11:02 PM

latest for sprint is awesome. great work.

360discgolf 10-20-2007 12:53 AM

Lovng your version so far. I am running Sprint v.1... I had to do a hard reset this morning, but I think it was because the ROM didn't like the Ultimate Search tool that I was taking for a test drive.

I will report again later, but everything seems to be functioning just fine.

Torx 10-20-2007 05:38 AM

take your time, dont get burnt out :)

Verizon 1.43 Radio

Say, guys, what's the difference between the stock radio and the 1.43?

philgross 10-20-2007 02:31 PM

problem with activesync domains?

I love your clean ROM, but I have a potentially dealbreaking problem. I ActiveSync to an exchange server on a domain. But in the server connection dialog, the "domain" field under username and password is grayed out, and I can't enter anything there. I haven't seen this problem with other ROMs. Was there perhaps one registry entry removed too far?

Never mind. One of a) deleting and recreating the server entry, or b) explicitly putting https:// before the server address, fixed the problem

Correction: the problem was that I was not looking carefully at my instructions, and put an '@' in my username, instead of the WM6-compatible underscore (this is all for connecting to my mail2web.com account). As soon as an @ appears in a username, WM6 grays out the domain field...

Rickytr23 10-20-2007 03:43 PM

do you have the kitchen program I would like to give a shot and make my own Verizon: wm6

Josh_131 10-20-2007 04:20 PM

ok so I have a quick possibly noob question.
I just put on the WM6 Clean Ver. 3 on my 6700 for sprint.

Will this change my situation with tethering? I used to be able to tether for free with WM5.

With WM6 does this change? Also how does internet sharing work? does that charge?

robmayer 10-20-2007 05:09 PM

On my pda, so this may be brief.

Rickytr23,

I am currently not using any sort of kitchen to make my roms, but I saw that verizonguy just released one. You should go check it out, its under HTC APACHE, UPGRADES, and it should be near the top.

Josh_131,

Your tethering will be free just as it was in WM5, and the Internet Sharing app makes it easier than ever.

greetings from Venezuela...

Actually v.3 is going to be great for you. Basically, I'm going to strip out everything and leave only stock, and I mean stock ONLY. I have a reason behind this, and that would be because it just seems as though 3rd party apps built into the rom just cause problems, especially when trying to upgrade them. So I am junking all the junk and v.3 is going to be 100% clean! Also, the new 1.43 radio is Verizon only To be honest, I have been having many problems with it to, and definately have not seen any noticeable improvements either. But anyway, thanks for the compliments on my work, I really appreciate it.

I loaded the Sprint V3 and so far very good. One issue I came across though. If I try to download a cab file off the internet with PIE it doesn't prompt to save it, it just opens it in the browser like it thought it was an html page, but obviously you get garbage. Sonds like the MIME types are missing. Perhaps in the reg cleanups? I haven't tried other file types yet.

Thanks again.

Actually, i have noticed this issue with WM5 too. PIE just has an issue with some sites, and causes problems like that. Try downloading a .cab file from a different site and see what happens, then let me know.

Yes and no. Most Windows Mobile 5 apps will function just fine. But once in a while you will come across a rouge app that will just refuse to work correctly in an OS it was not intended for. I'd say go for it, I have had no incompatibility problems with any of my WM5 apps in WM6.

The only significant nit I have is that SOTI Pocket Controller doesn't like this ROM. It takes me two times to connect every time now. Always used to connect first time every time. There could be settings I can alter on either the desktop or the PPC to fix this. I haven't looked yet.

I will upgrade to v3 next week unless there's a v4 by then. Right now I want to stick with v2 for a while longer.

Thanks for all the hard work, and I will certainly contribute!

I am really going to try putting the new HTC Home into the next version or the one after that. I might even be able to cook up something custom for you on the side if I have the time, if you wanted HTC Home completely gone. Also, I'm not to familiar with Pocket Controller. It may just be a general WM6 incompatibility issue. Maybe you could try other versions, like Helmi's and see if it produces similar results. lastly, I'm trying to get v.4 out as soon as possible. It may or may no be available by the time you are ready to upgrade again. We'll see though...

There are many other 3rd party phone dialers out there if you google for them. But I did purposely leave this dialer in my ROM because a lot of people like it and I honestly find it to be redundant to have a talk button on the screen, and one on the hardware button.

I have actually completely removed the HTC Task manager. I found it to be a big problem. I like to have Windows manage my programs for me, and I use a task manager only to list open programs, not to close them by hitting the x button. If you do lean more towards using a task manager, I prefer pBar, it is an excellent lightweight piece of software.

I think WM6 is a huge improvement of WM5. You should really go for it. As far as ram goes, you will have about the same: 36mb storage and 30mb of ram.

A) Well, I just wanted HTC Home out so that it would be easier for me to upgrade. If you put 2.0.x in, I will be happy with that.

B) As for Pocket Controller, it worked fine with the Helmi ROM. I've tried tweaking my settings but no go. Next time I plug it in and get the error message, I'll copy it and I'll make a new thread about it.

Once again, thanks for all the work! And I can probably wait for v4, unless you think it's going to be a couple weeks or more.

Trident 10-21-2007 08:44 AM

After a failed attempt to use VerizonGuy's first Kitchen, I needed a ROM- and quickly. I used your Sprint ROM and I've been impressed so far. No time for details (I'll post more later today).
One little request. I hate the HTC Home Today plugin. Any chance of having it disabled by default (if not removed) so that it doesn't mess with everything on first startup?

Great work. Thank you.

LOL. And as I finish this, I take the Apache out of it's cradle and the screen goes black. I freak. I put it back in the cradle and screen comes back on and everything appears to be working. Apparently, my default screen settings somehow changed to 0% brightness on battery over-night. Weird.

Good idea, maybe someone else might be able to help. But if I find something, I'll definitely try to help out too. V.4 for be coming pretty soon. Probably less than a couple of weeks. v.4 is basically going to be a complete stock oem rom, except for the HTC stuff(I really don't consider that 3rd party software). But I'm going to start from scratch with the original rom and tear it apart again one by one. Maybe this will solve some of the issues you all are having.

That's a good idea, I never thought about disabling it so it doesn't mess with the stuff on the first startup. I think I might do that. v.4 will be out pretty soon, so I think I'll take that into consideration. But otherwise, I'm glad to hear it's working out good for you. That is weird though about your brightness. I have this weird thing to in WM6, even Helmi's, where my backlight will default to 10 sec for some reason. You ever have that happen?

Trident 10-21-2007 01:06 PM

Yes, I've had the screen blank set to 10sec before. I just accept it as an MS glitch. Doesn't happen often.

Two other little "glitches" today. The first one is repeatable: When I load the camera, going into "Picture Theme" mode gives me an error. [36011:107:100] Then when I close the camera, my screen is all kerflooyed. But only if I close it from the HW/OK key. If I close it from the touchscreen (X), then it closes fine. Very curiously, when I take a screenshot of my kerflooyed screen, it looks normal. By kerflooyed, I can only describe that it looks like a color negative with some "static". I had this happening with WM5 AKU3.5, but was gone with the original Helmi WM6.

The second glitch is that I had a DSOD today. Just walking around and noticed that the screen wouldn't turn on and the phone appeared dead.

Ghettobob15 10-21-2007 01:21 PM

Using Sprint and this thing works nice and Smooth...or should I say clean ;)

I have one problem though. I can't play youtube videos because Adobe Flash is making PIE freeze. Could you tell me how to uninstall it?

Torx 10-21-2007 06:20 PM

adobe flash?
htc streaming should be the default app to load up when playing youtube videos..and it works perfect for me.

Ghettobob15 10-21-2007 06:37 PM

:/

For me...When I go on youtube.com... The videos on "Videos Being watched right now" is Flash. Which causes PIE to freeze and also my phone.

So I am asking is there a way to uninstall Adobe flash so the "videos being watched right now" doesn't show up and freeze my phone.

Torx 10-21-2007 07:02 PM

you mustve installed flash yourself because its not on my v3 sprint.
hmm.

Ghettobob15 10-21-2007 07:32 PM

maybe so, but where can i uninstall it...and its not in 'remove programs'

robmayer 10-21-2007 07:50 PM

HTC Streaming Media is the default for youtube mobile, ect. Actually, I just finished my Stock WM6 for any Apache anyway. Maybe this will clear some of the issues up you all are having. It is completely stock except for the HTC programs, because I don't consider them 3rd party programs... more like 2nd party from the manufacturer. This being completely stock though, you will have to set up your data connection and mms. Thats not a big deal though... data is normally #777 for VZW and SPCS, and then just install the right mms package and your set. I'll be uploading it sometime tonight.

GameDoctor 10-22-2007 06:55 AM

VOIP today plugin ?

Great ROM, thanks a bunch! Using Verizon v3.

I have noticed that the Apache flavor WM6 ROMs don't seem to have the VOIP today plug in available (like my 8525 WM6 does). Even after installing the WM6_VOIP cabs out there, nothing other than a config tool for SIP shows up.

I was hoping to use my Apache as a SIP VOIP phone using ViopBusterPro over Wi-Fi.

Do I need to do some registry edits? This would be very nice to have in there...

Trident 10-22-2007 10:55 AM

Another little glitch. MSVC is not activating with a short button push on Button5. Settings say it is, but definitely not. It is working correctly via BT headset.

Supermanwoot 10-22-2007 11:03 AM

I went back to WM5 using the verizon official update rom w/ 1.43 radio after using this. I have to admit, this WM6 rom was the best I used.

I just want to know one thing. The messaging used in this rom with the email settings and everything works perfectly. Is there some way to get that same system on WM5 because wow that was great, I just reverted to WM5 for speed, which improved a lot for me

shawnhenson 10-22-2007 02:34 PM

ok I have run the 1st one from you and have not had a SINGLE lockup. what have you taken out from the helmi version? there is something in there (missing now) and is not causing my phone to freeze up anymore.

I just looked at it... i can't get anything to map to button 5 for some reason. Try mapping it to button 5 push and hold, and it should activate with a single push of the button after you set it to that.

daveedem 10-22-2007 03:25 PM

robmayer,

many thanks for the ROM. I've been using V2 for since you released it. I had been using Helmi's original and honestly, didn't really have any issues with it. I don't think I'm using all the features that some of the other posters use as I'm in front of my PC damn near 12 hours a day anyhow. But I like the idea of a smaller footprint.

I'm also running lazyboy's iphone theme and while the theme is cool, WA2 and WAD is a memory hog. I'd had to soft reset a few times (last time it took me 6 times to get it all running again). I think it's probably WA causing the issue, but the theme was done on WA2 and I don't want to hardreset a bunch messing with it to get it working with WA3. I'm working on finding an emulator to mess around with.

As for your ROM, it's been an easy install with no real issues. I did experience the issue with the SD card not showing, but a few times inserting and reinserting seemed to do the trick. Your bootloader worked fine, although I keep an XP machine around just in case. I think I saw a post about using yours with Vista.

I'm also using 1.41 radio and am hesitant to go to 1.43.

Is there any real way to to backup all the customizations before you hardreset and load a new rom?

Thanks again. I'm probably going to go to your latest sprint version here shortly.

Hey Daveedem,

I also used Helmi's original for a while and I never had any real issues either. He has really done some great work. But what I have done is stripped all "junk" away and left only stock and HTC stock apps, as well as added some fixes and enhancements. I know you mentioned WA and WA2, and yes... those programs can be quite the memory hogs sometimes. Chris over at Lakeridge has really done a great job developing and fine tuning Wisbar Advance though. I know WA3 is out now(haven't used it much) and it might be a little lighter on your system. I know, I used to make skins a lot over a lakeridge, but that was back when WA2 was just released. Plus, my system just ran a lot better without all that... so I stopped, espcially when I upgraded to WM6. But anyway, if you can hold off until tonight I will be posting my Sprint WM6 Build 4 HTC Stock version, and it works quite a bit smoother than the Sprint v.3 release. Lastly, I'm not really aware a program to back up all customizations. Closest I could possible give you is PIM Backup, and that just backs up database stuff... contacts, sms, ect. Well, hope I helped a little. Look out for the new build. it will be here when it is posted: http://6700development.googlepages.com/downloads

Also, to those who have posted unanswered questions, I plan to get to them soon.
