get ready for a major update that you dirty bastages will love ;) Uploading now...
|
Its not just installing VC. If you just install VC then you will not get incoming announcements in your Bluetooth headset. The 3 fixes allow this to happen. What I did find is that you should activate Wifi before installing VC and the fixes. Somehow this keeps Wifi operating after VC and the fixes are installed.
Thanks, Steve |
Upload complete. Go grab it. Changes listed in initial post with download link.

Devel4
I have just flashed my 6700 with devel4 and things look good so far. I have also gotten Wifi and the VC 1.6 stuff working peacefully together.
Stupid question but is there a way to lock the Extended ROM2 again so it permanently does not show up again after a flash? I know how to change the reg entry but wondered if there is something more permanent. Will look at SDHC and Office 2007 support tomorrow. Thanks, Steve |

Currently running Helmi WM6 with Verizonguy devel 3. Much thanks to all, especialy Helmi and Verizonguy, but also many others willing to share knowledge and experience. I did not know what a cooked ROM or a Kitchen was about 2000 posts readings and a few days ago. This is my first flash of a custom RoM. All seems smooth as long as HTC Home is unchecked from Today screen. I do have some need to click some newly opened screens twice before the click "takes."
My question: Can I run Spb Backup from version 3 onto a new flash of version 4? I am not clear on how much of a backup the "system" portion actually captures and saves. Also I understand and fear the concept of "brick." But having a blast with this. Thanks again. Cooked ROMs rock! |

It's really difficult to truly brick your phone as long as you're flashing with a rom intended for your device. In some cases if your phone gets disconnected from your PC during the flash it can happen, but I've even recovered from that. |

I haven't loaded the Dev4 bits yet - I'll get to them asap and test 'em out. I would like to echo the kind words for Helmi and VG - you guys are the best and we are all learning tons and reaping the benefits of all your work. :headbang: -PH |
Can We Turn Off Beam By Default????
|
Seems like devel4 has improved at least 2 issues for me. More stuff works with only 1 click and my phone sounds better. I started out with a newest stock ROM, flashed the Radio 1.41, and it sounded OK. Then after flashing Helmi WM6 Verizonguy Devel3, somewhere along the way the phone sounded tinny or buzzy. People complained. Sounds great now though, after Devel4. (I just remembered that I did not dial *22899, though. Just ran the backup.)
I think now the files that need 2 clicks are in sub-folders, and only fail after one is opened, then closed. One extra click opens them just fine. Also, the Spb Backup for Devel3 worked fine on Devel4, only it reloaded the links for the games that are no longer there, so I had to delete them again. The whole process was very smooth and quick, and my phone was right back where I wanted it in less than 30 minutes. Very cool. |
im currently running devel. 3 ...im still wondering wether to upgrade to devel 4 or not..is there any really big changes between the 2 besides the mobile office 2007 support?

Oh. Need to add: I don't think I have had vibrate working on either of the Devel3 or Devel4 versions of WM6. Trying to get ring plus vibrate working, but nothing so far. Still liking it though.

First i would like to say thanks for all the fixes for us verizon users. I just have one quick question. Its no big deal if you done do it. Its just an idea.
Would it be possible to update the htc task manger to the latest version? in your next devel? http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-...ager-v2-0.html |
Loaded Dev4 last night and all seems well.Runs snappy and stable so far.Never experience a hang at the green mobile screen requiring a hard reset with Dev3. Hope I don't with dev4 as well. Great job VerizonGuy. I look forward to your kitchen.

Squealching Feedback Weirdness ...
Just tried out devel4 last night - had my first incoming call this morning. At the time I was attempting to pair my BT headset (of course). The device switched off the Phone ( I was in the Comm Manager) and began "squealing" - kind of like microphone feedback from a speaker.
Not sure if anyone else has seen this - never seen such behavior before - may have just been random and will let you know if it happens again - just wanted to put it out there. ...tom |
Storage Card
Installed Dev4 last night. I noticed this morning that after the phone shuts off the backlight and comes back on, I get the storage card not configured or needs to be inserted error. After a reset it works fine, but as soon as the backlight goes off, the problem reappears. I didn't have this issue with Dev3.
edit: forgot to add that removing and re-inserting the card does not kick start it either. |
Downloaded devel4 last night... very pleased so far. I don't know if it's just me or not, but this one seems a lot snappier than the last 3 developments. I really like the standardization progress in these to. I had no use for 90% of the "crap-ware" loaded in the original Apache WM6. Thanks for your hard work Verizonguy!

For those with vibrate weirdness. I just tested all vibrate combinations running devel4 and they work perfectly for me. I tried vibrate, vibrate & ring, vibrate then ring--they all work well.
flash devel4, hard reset a couple of times, reprogram with *22899 and soft reset & tell me if you're still having the same issues. |

Brand Size Mini SD or Mini SDHC ? Using adapter? I'm not having any issues with card support so far with devel4. |

512mb Mini SD No adapter. Tried a hard reset, let the card load. Removed and reinserted. Seems to be working at this time. I'll play around with it and see if it continues to happen. |

I have no complaints at all, only words of thanks ...
But I was shocked to see the games missing, but hey ... i found cabs for the ones i play and I always install games to the SD card. I wish I had a SDHC card to test, I guess I'll go and pick one up tonight to test. Good work verizonguy!!! |
Is there a way that programs removed can be placed somewhere so that we can install them if we wish.. For Example I would like to install programs like Pocket Sand to the Storage card since I don't need it in the rom.. Same with the 1-calc (thanks for posting it) ...
Maybe put them all inside one zip or one folder for the items removed.. BTW Thx for the work done by all that contributed... |
Verizonguy - I'm still having issues with the alarm - it will not loop the sound - can you test it out on your phone and see if alarm implements correctly? (for reference if it matters I've tried a couple, but for now its on alarm5 that it won't loop for)

Also when I attempt to *22899 the call connects, acts normal then the call drops, tried 4 times so far on this 4th build, but I am at home and cell phones aren't supposed to work at home anyway. |
The screen doesn't actually turn off, at least in my case. The backlight shuts itself off for some reason. If you tilt the phone a little, you can see the items on the screen. Just go to Settings-Backlight. You'll immediately notice the slider for the backlight while on battery has moved all the way to the left. If you slide it to the right, the backlight comes back on. I've had the same problem since I got the phone, even with the original WM5 ROM.

I have been happily running devel2 now since it came out (Thanks a million Helmi and Verizonguy!!!!!!) that loaded perfectly and ran pretty darn good too. Now, however, when I try to install devel4 it "acts" like it is loading but nothing happens on several different XP machines. Let me explain...
In a nutshell, I go into bootloader (1.02) and see USB on the device once I plug in the cable as expected. Next, I run the devel4.exe. The file decompresses to the appropriate directory and then executes. In the 2nd (I believe) informational screen it shows that I will upgrading from blank to blank. Hmmmm.... I'm feeling anyhow lucky so I click on next to continue. It tells me that it is making sure I am not upgrading my microwave (nice touch). After that, it tells me Yay! that wasn't so bad etc... Funny thing is, I never see a countdown loading bar up to that point and the end result has always been no load!! The old dev2 is still on my phone and functioning well with my calendar and numbers intact. I have rebooted the PC and hard reset the phone in several combinations a few times during this process to try to help, but, ultimately... no love. I have re-read other posts and been careful to follow directions to a "T". I won't say that I'm new to the load process, but, I may have overlooked something this time...?:???: Thanks for any help/insight. |
