EDIT: Here are my current issues I notice

-Sometimes in a call, the phone totally freezes except for the call itself. I can hear the person and speak to them, but the timer and interface is 100% frozen. No choice but to soft reset. Happened a few times. Its possible this is related to something else, I will investigate, but wanted to mention it.

-I have a single text message from a friend that is bold still, after reading it. I cannot mark this message as read, I cannot move it, I cannot delete it. I just stays there looking new with no way to get rid of it. My today screen does say I have no unread messages though.

-My voicemail indicator has not gone away at all. Every soft reset, the phone pops up there is a new voicemail, when there is no new voicemail. The notification icon on the top stays, when I click it, it says I have one new voice mail, however like I said I do not.

yes, numerous posts on here for backup program like sprite backup. google it.

Verizon Guy - I did read the first post - here is my confusion:

...
7) When it starts booting up, do a hard reset by holding down the 2 soft keys (send/end) while putting the stylus in the hole.
8 ) Let it reboot, align screen, etc.
...

This sounds like we interrupt the boot process - like I did with the Helmi release. But in the post above, you say "Please read the first post of the thread--no." Maybe it will make sense when I do the process. Do we just not get a "countdown"?

Thanks for all your hard work,
-PH

This is most likely due to some non-compatible software you have installed. I am not running into this yet on any of my test apaches.

That's a database problem with your backed up files. If anyone else runs into this after doing a fresh install, let me know, but I don't think this is related to the rom.

You can reset that from the phone. search is your friend :)

My instructions tell you to do a hard reset while the phone is booting for the first time after flashing the rom. Helmi's instructions tell you to do a soft reset once the customization screen pops up. I'm simply telling you that you no longer have to interrupt customization >= devel3 as I've disabled it.

Just want to point out that this isn't a release version yet & is posted for testing purposes while working out the major issues. I don't want to be rude, but I'm not here for tech support :) Please post with any bugs or problems you notice, but other than that I don't have time to respond to each individual question. Feel free to post whatever you want as other users often have time to address issues that come up. Thanks :)

mmbhm 10-05-2007 04:28 PM

Thanks VG - your method of posting new versions to the first post is so logical it confused my poor simple mind. Wish all the developers followed your technique. Can't wait to install.

here here ! The way these builds are going so far i might not want to upgrade to a 6800 by the time verizon feels like releasing them. I'll keep posting anything up that I think may be a bug, since I pretty much keep my phone stock (with the exception of that battery bar, but I probabily won't be even installing that anymore...heh)

them0nk 10-05-2007 07:54 PM

well i have to say Awesome work dude.

the only thing i notice, and thing could be on SPB stuff... is when i boot, i get a weird lag... like 30 seconds before i can do anything... dont know if it's spb or what... this is on dev2 tho... about to update... and the lag was WAY WORSE about 3 days ago... went in and a friendly tech swapped out my older 6700 .... thanks dude :-P haha anyways i'm gonna see if it does it withouth spb stuff installed and edit this post after the flash...

NOTE: IF YOU ARE USING HELMI'S ORIGINAL VERIZON WM6 ROM OR MY DEVEL1 EDITION, YOU NEED TO UPDATE YOUR ROM ASAP. There is a huge safety issue. The 911 functionality is completely broken in all verizon roms < devel2. If you dial 911, your phone will lock up.

I am using Helmi's original release of WM6 and 911 doesn't lock up my phone......

+1

1-Calc.exe
The file 1-Calc.exe cannot be opened. Either is is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found.

I really want to try this out, but I'm on Vista and can't find a way to flash it to my phone :( I did search the forums, and nothing that came up that I saw worked. I saw someone mention using another flash utility, but how exactly would one do that as I didn't see any similar flash utilities anywhere.

ParrotHead 10-06-2007 01:24 PM

I loaded up dev-3 last night as well.

I see the same behavior as in Helmi's release, with regard to tapping the text and email boxes on the today screen. The system sometimes ignores these taps. Also, when you open up a contact, and tap on "Send Text Message" it rarely starts the text compose app. As mentioned above, I also see the issue opeining Calc Lite.

Let me know if I can provide any logs or other details related to these bugs.

To Fix The 1-Calc Issue Just Copy The .exe attached to your windows folder it appears this is all thats missing from the ROM, as mine now works......

They were removed from the base rom. No point in having 2 calculators in the base rom. You can add wm5menu in if you'd like, but it won't be in the base rom. I forgot to remove them in the menus/settings. It will be fixed in devel4.

Reports like that so far have associated with htc home, weather apps and/or apps that aren't 100% compatible.

I tried that, found two threads that seemed useful, already looked at the one, and the other had a different RUU utility. I can do the driver change as I have 64 bit Vista and driver signing is required, and the other utility doesn't seem to find the necessary file(s). Guess I'll have to try setting up VMWare at some point. For now though, I at least have my girlfriend's laptop that still has XP on it, so now on to setting up my phone again.

I did notice a bug that I had with the original WM6 ROM from helmi, when the phone first starts up after being flashed, it freezes if you want to setup a password to lock the phone. if you say skip and setup the password later, it works fine though.

If It Matters What I Say Id Rather Have Calc Lite Instead Of Stock Calculator.

Alpha 3 Notes

Ok I have flashed version 3 to my 6700 and the only problem I seem to be having is with the WIFI. It does not seem to activate, even though I have made sure it is active. It never picks up my WIFI router, and does not alert me to this. Not sure if this is a result of version 3, but it worked prior in version 1 and 2.

Thanks,
Steve

Any chance we could see if the newer Arcsoft MMS works with this? I dont know how to get in and remove and add a OEM unless its like the old unified rom setup, but I had done it before and it worked on verizon and SOOO much better...

ljb2010wah 10-06-2007 11:59 PM

Thanks a bunch. I can now keep this phone longer. I did notice on this 3rd edition that the missed call icon on the HTC home page takes you to dialed calls. Other than that everything is awesome.

Schwartz 10-07-2007 10:35 AM

Voicemails do not show up on the voicemail button (above weatherpanel etc.) as they used to. instead both left most button take you to your text\MMS stuff.

The missed call button takes you merely to the call log, it shows all calls. Dont know if this is a bug or not as I never really paid much attention before.

The WM6 built-in dialer doesn't have categories for call history. All calls are grouped together. Once you open the call history, you can then filter the calls in the menu for that one instance.

Sorry, you're mistaken. There are 3 message notification boxes in htc home. The left box is mms; the middle is sms and the right is missed calls. None of these are for voice mail. The voice mail indicator is at the top of the screen and not part of htc home.

I experimented with trying to make arcsoft 3.5 work with this rom, but it didn't want to integrate properly. The one we're using now is functional so going to stick with it.

Very strange indeed. I am on my computer right now using the Wifi with no issues. I never get a notification that my 6700 finds the Wifi at all...it just sits there and I cannot use it. Any ideas on what I should be looking for?

Thanks,
Steve

spetrillo 10-07-2007 09:02 PM

Ok I have now done some more testing...

I re-did the ROM and now am running devel3 with nothing else. The Wifi works perfectly. The only difference between now and what I had several hours ago is that I also had the 3 VC 1.6 fixes for WM6 installed. I am beginning to suspect that one of them is breaking the Wifi. Has anyone tested VC 1.6 with devel3 and the 3 VC fixes (Voicemd Apache Fix, LennySh Voice Command WM6, and IDTransferV11)? Do I need these to get VC 1.6 to work properly in devel3?

Thanks,
Steve

ON a serious note.... can't install.... no NK.NBF

For the past 2 revisions, I've installed (on a Vista PC) using Helmi's ApacheUpdate tool, and just copying over VerisonGuy's NK.NBF. However I see this time it's in the form of a os.rom. ???

crencom 10-08-2007 10:11 AM

just rename it to nk.nbf and proceed as you did before.
