VC 1.6 works nearly flawlessly with this ROM. The main problem is that you don't get incoming voice announcements over BT and incoming call ringtone passthrough is intermittent at best, but it's not an issue with Helmi's ROM...it's an issue with WM6 all together. I'd have figured MS would have put out an update to VC since WM6 has been out for a while. No problems mapping it to button 5 BTW. Great job on this ROM so far. I'll let ya know if I uncover any bugs, but so far so good. |

bootloader mode
Just upgraded to dev 2 and now im lock into the bootloader mode, i was upgrading from helmi wm6, never happen before. I reupgraded 4 times and still locked in bootloader mode. any ideas?
Thanks |
I actually got it up and running with the exit bootloader util. ;)
|
So is there any way to Flash the rom with Vista 64 yet? or am i going to need to find a XP PC?
|
Well i gave it a whirl on my media PC and it ran no problem whatsoever, so clearly Vista was the guilty party. :\ Oh well! will give you my feedback!
|
The NOID Upgrade Utility Has Conflicts With Vista Use The Utility From Helmis WM6 Verizon Version (The One Without The Bootloader Listed) And You Will Be Fine, Just Swap The ROM File.

And, being that you didn't flash, you don't even know... It does not lock up your phone permanently, it just tries to use the gps chip that our phone doesn't have, and after about 10 seconds, it fails and then it processes and connects the call to 911... The more I write, the more mad I get. Just go away. It's people like you that don't know anything, think they know it all, and make a bad name for people like us, just trying to update our phones long after the carrier has stopped supporting them. |

I have dev 2 on my now. works well i will post here with comments if i have any. my only comment so far it that the Verizon mobile sync software is not on there, but that i am sure is just a preference thing. thanks

You can download wireless sync software over the air by going to ota.wsync.com. Just select your device.

GoddBody - I pretty much figure everyone on here knows the potential dangers of using unofficial hacked software on their phone. Caveat emptor. There is a reason why Helmi listed it as a work in progress, and asked people to report issues. You're type of reaction is just the type that would slow down production on awesome hacks such as his. Chill out, dude. Gervy |
PHONE "locks" when sending MMS...
been running the verizonguy edition of WM6, and love it. (Nice and fast).
However I can't seem to send MMS, from the camera (when you take a pic, and can send right away prior to saving). The interface will lock. Though if I hit OK button, it just closes the MMS send interface and bring me back to the TODAY screen. I can send MMS from the picture and video catalog screen. Anyone else having issues? Fix available, or is there another MMS application that will work? Gervy |
My phone is locked up at the windows mobile splash screen. I have not installed anything, and the battery was fully charged. Any ideas? I thought this wouldn't happen anymore..

I installed the Dev2 Rom Sunday. No soft or hrd reboots since then until a few minutes ago. I installed a Bluetooth Stereo headset. For some reason the phone had lost the SD card with my music. Ejected and reseated the card... no dice. Decided I would try the soft reboot, using the application, not the stylus, and... Green Screen Lock. I was not running the HTC Home screen, and the only extra App was the Chi-Tai Battery status application (which I will leave off for now). Any thoughts on the cause of this?
Thanks! bill |

Try removing the weather function of HTC Home (you will need the HTC Customizer). |
WM slash screen locked
The WM splash screen locked up on me as well while on the original Helmi version... in fact, that is why I came back to the boards today. :) Hope this info helps you debug...
Was using Helmi's version for about 2 weeks pretty smoothly with the same typical little hiccups as found elsewhere on the boards. Only additional app installed was Warring Nations demo. Had about 80% battery power. I was playing Pocket Suduko on Very Hard and while generating a new grid and it seemed to have hard locked the whole phone (waited about 15 minutes). Did a soft reset (with stylus) and the phone would never get past the splash screen. Tried removing battery pack, soft resets, etc. I did notice though that just letting the phone sit there, the screen would go black like a normal sleep state and the screen would come back on when I hit the power button. Since I am in a bad cell area, the Verizon service is continuously connecting and disconnecting and it would still give me the audible notification of those connects/disconnects. So that tells me it had to be running somewhat properly in the background, it just wouldn't close the splash screen. Unfortunately I didn't think of trying to call the phone until after I did a hard reset. I will download devel2 now and let you know if it happens again. Thanks for all the hard work! Geoff |
Hey, verizonguy - Glad to see that you're back and cranking out the great ROMs again!
I'd love to try out your latest dev ROM, but I had Outlook 2003 syncing issues with Helmi_c's WM6 image. WM6 (or Office Mobile 2007) had a problem where updated/added Contacts and appointments would not be transferred to the other device. (I missed a meeting because of this). Do you know if any of your registry hacks / updates have addressed the syncing issue? Cheers! ¿GotJazz? |

Hello Every One, I Have A Problem With This Update, Install It In My Verizon Xv6700 And I Work Normally One Day, But To The Following One All The Sounds, Included Those Of The Telephone Stopped Working, Which Does Not Leave Me To Use The Telephone, Since It Seems To Be Silenced, I Have To Use The Headset To Speak For Telephone And The Sounds And Clicks Are Listened When I Use The Menus, There Gives The Impression Like That The Speaker And The Microphone Was Not Working. Do Not I Know If Anyone Of You Has This Problem??????

Already found the solution to the problem (l read an article in this forum of the friend Luv2chill, of the topic After rom install-help!!!! .. volume is gone!!!) in which he was explaining a problem that the XV6700 presents. Apparently, when much uses the headset with this telephone and updates (the truth I don't know the technical reason, but I give them the empirical solution, thanks Luv2chill) the sound hardware is blocked, only working the headset. The solution for it (as I say to them, empirical enough, but effective), is to reproduce a long sound (like of a minute or more) and to introduce and to extract several times (as approximately 5 to 10 times) the headset, until sound is listened again in the speaker.

Is the new Office 2007 support built into this ROM, or will it be in future versions?
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=9164 Thanks! |
I installed the Devel 2 ROM yesterday afternoon. I had one splash screen lockup about two hours later, right after I installed Weatherpanel and some themes for it. I had the HTC Home plugin turned off pretty much the whole time. A hard reset got things back on track.
But other than that one hiccup, it's run perfectly. Glad the 911 fix got in, too. (Has anyone tested it/had cause to use it and make sure it's fixed?) And this is actually closer to the WM6 ROM I'd customize for myself, too. Great work! Edit: Forgot -- I was going to recommend anyone installing Devel 2 consider an extra hard reset after they finish the flashing process. I know this is standard procedure for many when flashing a new ROM, but I think that hard reset after the freeze might be exactly what was needed to get it running cleanly, since I haven't had a problem since. |
I have a problem... this flash is not overwriting my EXT rom, is it supposed to?
If not, do you know where I can find a ext rom which is more specifically tailored for WM6? (Search is difficult to use and not accurate, I looked as hard as I could, sorry if this has been asked.) |
If i Upgrade to this will i have access to DUN via Verizon's Broadband Access?

Short time reader - first time poster!
just thought I'd throw a few pennies in here. I went from stock xv6700 to this alpha 2 build from verizonguy (which btw - instructions were easy and install perfect) - funny enough, i had a reason today to call 911 from my vehicle. What I found is that placing the 911 call and everything was perfectly fine. went right through conversation took place and hung up. However, what i noticed was that after this phone call, I could no longer place other calls. I went to call my fiance after 911 and found the phone would say "connecting...." then simply stop. I attempted to call a few numbers, but the phone would never get to the "ringing" stage (or even when the timer would start for a phone call). A soft reset later the phone was working again. hope this helps out. (Not sure if it matters, radio was version 1.41) |
