[I've noticed it lately while soft-resetting with a cheap (ebay generic) battery.] It doesn't get posted about much; makes me wonder if the hiccup just drops the setting one notch, not enough to be noticed by anyone except those running at level 1. [Edit: Solution, under a strong light, start/settings/system/backlight -> bump the level on battery ops up again.]

In addition, HTC Home includes a backlight control that can cause apparently similar behavior if you are new to it. [One of the many reasons I dumped HTCH.]
I've never seen or heard of this behaviour, except when ring profile apps are installed. If you're seeing it repeatedly while soft-resetting, at what point to do you see it? If it's after the WM main splash shows, it's a side effect of some software you have installed.

Don't flash ROMs designed for other devices - this kitchen will not work on your phone. For your phone, press power + camera + reset to enter bootloader. If that doesn't work for you, you broke your phone.

Unhappy WiFi Connectivity Issue?

Hi All,

Finally made the leap to WM6 and am loving it!

Only problem that I've noticed is that I can't get my wifi to connect, no matter what I try.

So, I wonder what it could be, I really use my wifi a lot and since moving to WM6 it doesn't seem to work at all, I've even tried hooking up to various open WLANs in my area, all fail to connect... Is there anything specific in the kitchen I shouldn't/should select to make wifi work right?

I have tried to connect with both hidden/secure and open/disabled WLANs. I can connect to them with my laptop, but not with my 6700.

One thing that I noticed was that the "This is a hidden network" is always checked, could that be a prob? I tried with it checked and unchecked.

I've attached what I used in my kitchen, as requested, if you need anything else, just let me know!

Thanks, in advance, for any help you can give, I'd hate to have to go back to WM5!

Did a quick search and couldn't find anything about this:

Input using keyboard in Windows Live Search Today screen plugin is acting very strangely. Some keys don't work at all, some are stuck on the character setting (the entire top row-- can't type letters only numbers), and some function normally.

Anyone else having this problem or know what may be causing it? Thanks in advance.

You should be able to connect to any open/WEP/WPA network, hidden or not. WPA2 is not supported. Run WiFiFoFum, and see what networks it picks up. If it finds networks but you can't connect, the problem is security settings. If it never finds any networks, try loading a stock rom and verify that your hardware works.

Windows Live Mobile SUCKS! But, not the way you think ...

I have installed Windows Live Mobile (the email/messenger client) using the latest WM6 Kitchen onto my XV6700.

After doing some dedicated testing by adjusting the WLM settings, I have determined decisive one thing: Windows Live Mobile SUCKS .......... the life out of my battery!

All I do with WLM is check my single Hotmail account for email. I have tried checking my email every 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and 60 minutes, and my resultant battery drain is huge.

For example, if WLM doesn't periodically check my email at all (set for Manual updates) I can run for over 12 hours before my battery life drops to 90%.

However, if I set my Hotmail email to be checked every 60 minutes, my battery life is down to 70% in about 5 hours. Don't even ask what happens if I set WLM to be updated as email comes in - it ain't very pretty!

I don't really know if this is truly a Kitchen problem, or WLM problem. I am posting this in the Kitchen Bug Report thread just in case it is a Kitchen problem.

I guess a good way to isolate where the problem is would be for someone running WM6 (on something other than an Apache) to monitor their battery life with WLM checking email periodically vs. WLM disabled. If it chews up the battery on another device, it is more likely to be a WLM problem and not the Kitchen.

Cheers!

It's a fact of cell phone life. Cell connections cost you lots of battery life (voice or data).

I was just wondering if the long pause on the Simple PIN screen is still being looked into? It is in the known issues list however I haven't heard anything new since.

I am surprised more users here are not impacted by it, do most people here not run their device through an Exchange server at work? Are you not concerned about your device getting lost and someone getting access to all of your contacts and email?
