So, I wonder what it could be, I really use my wifi a lot and since moving to WM6 it doesn't seem to work at all, I've even tried hooking up to various open WLANs in my area, all fail to connect... Is there anything specific in the kitchen I shouldn't/should select to make wifi work right?

I have tried to connect with both hidden/secure and open/disabled WLANs. I can connect to them with my laptop, but not with my 6700.

One thing that I noticed was that the "This is a hidden network" is always checked, could that be a prob? I tried with it checked and unchecked.
You should be able to connect to any open/WEP/WPA network, hidden or not. WPA2 is not supported. Run WiFiFoFum, and see what networks it picks up. If it finds networks but you can't connect, the problem is security settings. If it never finds any networks, try loading a stock rom and verify that your hardware works.
