And if yours is the 1 out of a 1,000,000 that does brick, microwave and return it.

If you have the warranty, you can always have it die, then exchange it. I have never seen anyone do the above, but we are not doing anything that the phone is not designed to do. These phones are designed to be flashed.

So take advantage of what your phone can do. My juiced up Juciy rom, with a bunch of other add-ons looks very cool. And is unique to me. When people see the dual animation, weather and multi-colored circles raining down, they have no idea what phone I have, just that there iphone or droid does not do that.

I too say don't worry about the issues. I have warranty exchanged on at least three occasions with a phone I flashed a custom ROM too. In each of those occasions I flashed back to stock and relocked it. I have also bought a Touch Pro to a service center on at least two occasions with it running an obviously cooked ROM with no problem.

Never heard of the microwave lol, in theory I guess it would work but it would also probably be obvious if you left it in there more than a second or two no? Many metals ignite under microwaves, which would leave scorch marks around the internals of the phone I would think.

i am a tech in a sprint store and i wont swap out a phone thats been unlocked and flahsed with a custom rom

so dont assume no one will notice it...because theres a chance that someone will...

they probably wont...but dont assume it'll never happen

also microwaving a phone? seriously id laugh if someone brought a microwaved phone into my store and wanted it replaced...

maybe i happen to be the one tech thats not an idiot but still microwave?

It is a shame to hear that from someone who visits these forums. Based solely on what you wrote, I get the impression you must be a d..k to your customers and probably your friends to, if you have any.

I work in a 3rd party sprint repair center, and the reason we don't like exchanging modded phones is because we may get charged back by the warehouse. That's why I started keeping copies of sprint stock roms and SPL relockers just in case. :)

+1 that other guy sounded like he'd rat us out if we brought him our phones!

Btw, this will all probably be irrelevant with WM 7 which separates the OS from the carriers and allows independent updating

So you think that you could tell if a device was bricked by microwaving it for 3 seconds? Good luck with that buddy. No visual evidence. Yes, only 3 seconds is all it takes.

Edit: No, I haven't done it. I've only had devices replaced after I flashed back to stock ROM and re-locked them. Hardware defects. I'm not an abuser of the system.

I'm looking around for a ROM to flash from the sprint stock OEM, but every ROM thread has people complaining about bugs and cooks promising updates so I'm feeling uneasy about flashing anything right now.

I think I see your sentiment here...and you're not the only tech that is aware of ppcgeeks and xda-developers existence and that we void our htc contract due to unlocking our device. HTC will not repair your device if they realize you have unlocked your device via hspl. There was a big issue about this with the touch hd over at xda - if your device stopped working and hspl was used, they would charge you for the parts that needed repairing - despite it being under their contract.

HTC doesn't want individuals to flash their devices because it voids warranty. And yes there are a variety of users that know that if there is a flash and something goes awry with hardware, just flash stock and relock. It honestly takes no more than about 10 minutes...I can't believe you guys are calling him a **** for doing his job...I'm not going to get way into this issue because this is juicy rom thread and a new thread should be opened if anyone wishes to discuss this further...but ideally we are doing the same thing that itards do and that voids their contracts as well..

again I will say it what are you trying to do?????? MMS does not full work thru HTC Messaging so that being said all you should do is go to the native messager and ban there it is, sending is thru Arcsoft. In this ROM it should be all setup during carrier provisions

I do have to thank all of you for many of the questions that you've answered have definitely help me solve problems for my customers. And I've definitely let everyone interested know about the great work you do. So keep it up!

And I'm still waiting for that Juicy R8. R7's hands down the best ROM I've tried. No lock-ups, no freezes, no lag, no text messaging errors like I had with others. Very satisfied!
