I do have the complete and final answer. Hints were posted elsewhere on this board that led me in the right direction.

Here is it. Note, Chris, there is at least a chance that your ROM is not totally blameless.

Here's what happened. Some program (more below) in accessing the wifi networks set the IP Address to be a static one, specifically 192.168.1.1. As a result, if one happens to attempt to access a network with this IP already assigned, the network's will recognize the conflict and will not grant access to the device. The solution is jokingly simple. Go to Start-Settings-Connections-Wi-Fi-Wireless Networks and select the 'Network Adapters" tab. The Network Adaptor used by the TP2 is the "Broadcom 802.11 DHD Networ Adaptor" (note: not the "Broadcom 802.11 Network Adaptor" without the "DHD"). Selecting that will bring up the "Use Server-assigned IP address" and "Use specific IP address" option. The later will be checked and the 192.168.1.1 IP will have been entered. Merely select the "Server-Assigned" option then "OK and "OK" again and the problem is solved.

The reason that the problem is not wide-spread is that, should the network being accessed not have assigned the 192.168.1.1 address (which would be common in a network that uses the DHCP server to assign all addresses) the problem will not manifest itself.

Now, what program was the guilty one that didn't clean up after itself? It is most likely the Wi-Fi router. I have not been able to reproduce this yet, but there are assertions on the board that this is the problem program.

Anyway, I think you should look into it, and I hope that I have saved others the terrible headaches associated with resolving this issue without having to do a cold reboot.

Hi, does anyone know how to get Microsoft Direct Push to work with gmail using this ROM; I can't get to work; it seems like the "sync" only occurs at periodically interval and not "as items arrive"; it seems like the client is just "polling" every 10 minutes or so and the gmail service is not really "pushing" the updated events (emails, calender) "as items arrive". I spent the last 3 hours creating and deleting my gmail account with various settings but no luck. I went by to MightyROM and it works fine there.

I enjoy running the latest roms and they always seem to work great. I have one issue - I'm getting a lot of crap from my facebook friends because everytime I update the ROM and run the facebook app it automatically posts to my status that I just installed facebook fro windows mobile. Any way to stop this?

Also, considering the flexibility in the radios ability to broadcast does anyone think it might be possible to get it to broacast in FM to say transmit to a car stereo?? Just a thought.

maybe im blind, but how do you get to a listing of all programs installed? im liking this rom so far, but before, when i opened the start menu, there would be a button for "all programs" now i cant seem to find a way to see a list of programs to choose one to open

As I have learned its a little more challenging than getting a kitchen and then not selecting Sense related folders.
