I am having problems getting YouTube (v2.5.1915.1528 ) working with this ROM. Playing a video on YouTube in both Beta2 and Beta4 ROMs would either have no audio at all or it would crash, causing me to do a soft reset with the stylus. I did a hard reset and installed only YouTube and nothing else. It worked once and then same problem.

I just now installed Stock Sprint ROM and same YouTube file worked great. I installed a few other cab files, did a soft reset, and YouTube is still working.

Any suggestions? I really love this ROM but YouTube is important - for me anyway.

Beta 4B is going up as we speak. Are you using the YouTube CAB located in the OEMCAB folder? or from another source? I would suggest using the one located in the OEMCAB folder, as well as installing "Full Screen Player" once Beta 4B is up. :-P Oh and I haven't forgot about the Voice Command thing we discussed. It will definitely be optional in the Release Candidate.

EDIT: I just re-created your 'no audio' bug. Looking into it now :)

I'm loving this ROM because I can finally customize the apps to my liking! One question though:

Is there any way to use animated splash screens and audio when booting (like the stock ROM form Sprint has)? I know perfectly well how to do the registry editing to change the image, but I'm not able to get an animated one or any audio to work. Any ideas?

(I'm trying to make the splash screen an animated .gif using the nifty little butterfly and apple images from Fringe, while playing the theme. Very awesome.)

Okay, I'm feeling rather silly now...I installed the .cab, and it did change the splash to an animated HTC logo. However, I can't seem to find any difference in the Registry, or any files I could change to my .gif and .wav/.mp3 files? Am I just blind, or is there something else I need to do?

The file you are looking for is called HTCAnimationStartup.gif

as for wav files, it doesn't create any but let me find the registry file to associate a startup wav..

Found that file once I knew what to look for, but it seems to be cutting off after about half of my animation - regardless of filesize, number of frames, or animation length. Wierd, huh? It also still keeps around the MS Splash screen, even if I remove the registry key and set duration to zero if shows a blank white screen. I set it to point to a blank black screen so I can fade out to that until the loading finishes, but is there any way to change the length of the .gif file it looks for? I remember using the Advanced Config Tool with the Sprint splash before I had unlocked my phone, and it gave me a setting for the .gif duration, controlling how quickly it played (like a framerate setting). for some reason though, I'm not seeing that setting now (assuming, perhaps, because the animated splash wasn't cooked in?)...Have you ever seen this? Sorry to be a pain, feel free to tell me to pack sand if it gets annoying. :mrgreen:

To be honest, there is no entries in the CAB that is related to duration, so maybe that's why Advanced Config isn't showing the tweak. Even cooked in the new version of animation doesn't create any. Maybe we can take the values from the Stock ROM and add them to this.

Awesome, those look like they should do it. Thanks! At the risk of sounding needy, could you CAB those up for me? For some reason RegEdit won't let me create new keys, and I don't have the HTCAnimation path at all under HKLM>SOFTWARE>HTC. I owe you one! (Oh, and I learned another thing tonight - for anyone who's using Sense 2.1, the "BG for All Pages" .cab for Sense 2.5 (I think I found it over at XDA) works just fine as long as you flash the ROM, THEN install Sense 2.1, THEN install the .cab, THEN install anything else. I tried a couple of different load orders, and ended up with a very squirrely clock.)

I don't use bg for all tabs. Seems it slows things down especially when rotating the screen.

I use HDWall and make my own BG CABS (one for each BG I use). It's a bit more of a pain to change the background i.e. install new CAB but it sure is faster during daily use and I don't change the BG that often.

Hey, found an issue with the TouchFlo3D. For some reason, it won't detect a touch on the screen in certain windows (notably "Wallpaper" from the Settings tab, and the Advanced Config Tool) unless I hold my finger on it for about 1.5-2 seconds. Anybody else having this problem?

You know......I have this issue too and I have no idea what causes it, I am going to build a nightly (tonight) with TF3D and XDA_UC cooked in and see if that makes a difference. Also, I may create a small app to add registry entries to "ignore" certain apps in TF3D.

i had the same issue with the wallpaper tab as well. FYI i flashed back to stock, hard reset, installed BNR, hard reset and the problem was still there. The BNR is still friggin awesome though regardless of this little issue. i am going to install MS3.5 over it and see how that works.

Hm...It seems that it's still stopping the animation (and WAV file) after a set length. I can change how quickly it cycles through frames, but it still 'caps' the animation somehow. I'll try disassembling the .dll with a Hex Editor and see if I can work it out, as well as some more registry tinkering. Also, it seems that the touch sensitivity issue has resolved, here's what I did: Opened the Advanced Config Tool Under "TouchFlo", change all keys relating to touch sensitivity to "0". Soft Reset. And now, I don't have to hold for a couple of seconds to do stuff. YMMV.

After close examination, it appears to be cutting off after exactly 4 seconds, regardless of what occurs IN those 4 seconds. Very curious...

Two things I'm going to try and do. Because, when I had the TP1, i was able to change the animation duration just fine with Advanced Config when I made my own GIF. So what I might do is get a TP1 ROM, look at the registry values for that and try and apply them to this one, or just use an older version of HTC Animation. Maybe the Stock Sprint TP2 version, because Sprint's animation is quite long and it works fine lol.

I'm curious to know why my posts are all smooshed together, without any line breaks. O_o... I tried changing the obvious part of the DLL, no dice. There's a line in it that reads "playgifover$dms", tried changing $d to any other value while keeping the number of characters the same so as not to break the assembly. Nothing happened at all, same performance as before. Tried deleting the DLL and replacing the default GIF with my Fringe one, and no animation plays - so obviously the DLL is required for this. Tried leaving the DLL unchanged from the original CAB, but replaced the GIF with mine, no change. Tried deleting the GIF and leaving the original DLL, still no change. I think your idea with the Sprint stock DLL or even an older one is probably the best bet.

Found registry entry under HKLM>SOFTWARE>HTC>StartupAnimation, playing around with creating new values to try and change the length. I'm going to keep digging through the DLL hex code, and try and find where the length is assigned to a variable within the code, so I can see what registry entry it's looking for, and maybe fake it out. I dunno, honestly I'm just stabbing around in the dark here, I have some Java/Perl experience but have never dealt with phones before. This is fun!

Progress! I found a reference in the DLL code to what apppeared to be a registry key titled "GifPlayTime", so I created said key under HKLM>SOFTWARE>HTC>HTCAnimation. I made the value 30, since my WAV and animation are both around 22 seconds. Now, the WAV plays entiirely, but the GIF is stuck on the first frame. Methinks there's another key hidden somewhere that needs to be created, I'll update when I find it.
