Re: Bare Naked ROM BETA 4 [1-10-10] WM 6.1 Build 21056 Sense 2.1/Sense 2.5 Landscape

When I install sense 2.1 then Sense 2.5 on the manufacture sprint rom, the sense work ok. it is not as fast as other rom but manageable.
When I install sense 2.5 by itself without sense 2.1, it hang up the phone.

I hope this helps.

I can make a CAB but there's a strange side effect with Sense 2.1. It makes Sense 2.1 act funny, like you have to keep your finger pressed on the screen for half a second before it starts registering your touch. But it only happens with Sense, every other area of the phone operates just fine...trying to fix that now.

All of this is on a Stock ROM right? Okay i'll get back to you later with a CAB that might make location work :)

Yes, I think so. :D

Yeah I think so too, they are both "gestures" when reading an email ... if the CAB causes issues I can wait until a "beta 5" with it cooked in. Or do you think it would still exhibit the same issue even if cooked in?

Many thanks.

Good question, i'm about to test that out. It almost seems like it's a Manila issue since sense 2.1 was designed to work with WM6.5, and "TouchFlo" isn't included in 6.5, it gets all confused and retarded when using TouchFlo on 6.1 but i will figure it out hopefully..

The reason why it won't work is because there are a bunch of services that are required. I wonder if they can be installed on an Omnia...

That makes sense (pardon the pun). Since MS included the TouchFlo equivilent in 6.5 HTC didn't need to include it. Must be possible to install seperately tho.

Found something called HTCScroll. Gonna give that a go and see what it does ;)

HTCScroll is already included in the menu enhancement (which is included in the ROM). BUT you did spark something up. HTCScroll2 is the newest version and it's included in most of the new ROMs but is not compatible with HTCScroll and the original menu enhancement, but is compatible with the newest leo menu enhancement. I may toy around with that... :-p

I can give you what's needed to make the gesture swipe work and you can take a stab at making it work correctly with manila 2.1 if you want.

The other thing I noticed is that on a Stock ROM when you are reading an email "scroll" is the default mode. If you want to select text you have to enter "text selection mode" which you do from the menu.

Could it be that Inbox is just in the wrong default mode? Not sure how to change if so, been looking through all the MS settings in HKCU & HKLM but not seeing anything obvious.

Slew of fixes, changes, and updates with the help of MrMiyagi. (testing, suggestions) Coming along quite nicely. Will also be poking around in the Sense 2.5 CAB to be adding optimizations and tweaks. Most CABs in OEMCAB will be updated/modified shortly.

I'm currently using an early build of the next version and it ROCKS . Working TouchFlo throughout ...

There are a few little issues that are easily fixable and I'm sure will be in the next release.

Way to go on a great ROM .. so happy to see Sense 2.1 (not a big fan of 2.5) running beautifuly on WM6.1 ...

Re: Bare Naked ROM BETA 4 [1-10-10] WM 6.1 Build 21056 Manila SenseUI 2.1 & 2.5 CAB

Hello all

Sorry if this already has been discussed but for my Verizon TP2 I tried the Verizon and MM 6.5 ROMs mostly as I was looking for all the nice stuff you get via the 2.1 Sense as 6.1 work just fine for me.

Essentially they both worked fine but the only down side is it that with 6.5, it has quite a effective lockout on letting certain registry changes stick.

Specifically the one that was a deal breaker for me was the ability to lock off the Data Connection and while there are some work arounds for this, to make a long story short, eventually I had to go back to the stock 6.1 ROM

So my question is, can anyone tell me that with this ROM if they have had any problems of not being able to have any of their registry settings stick?

And more, has anyone found that the specific hack to keep the Data Connection locked off is working?

Thanks

I have made quite a few Reg Changes and they have ALL stuck bar one. And this one is re-applied by a security policy periodically applied by the work Exchange Server I pick my email up from i.e. not by the OS.

So just to ask so that I understand you correctly, that was a setting that you were able to get to stick prior to this ROM?

Nope, it doesn't stick on any ROM as it's re-applied from an external server.

However, in this case that is a nice little app that stops the external server re-applying it ....but it keeps trying ;-)

Re: Bare Naked ROM BETA 4 [1-10-10] WM 6.1 Build 21056 Manila SenseUI 2.1 & 2.5 CAB

Hello

So I have a factory stock (at least relating to the OS stuff) Verizon TP2.

I have read through all the threads and apologize if I am asking a stupid question but.

If just want to get Sense 2.1 or 2.5 on my device, can I just run either of the two cabs I see in the OEM folder and this will install that an run that without any problems?

The reason I ask is that, one I have so much stuff on my device now it would take me at least a few days to get it all that reinstalled and setup again.

But really too I don't know this stuff all that well so I wouldn't even know really what I might need from any of the other cabs to have my device have all the extra an/or other necessary Verizon stuff I would need to have my device to the same as it is now which is how I would like it as I don't have a clue as to what I need or don't need, at least not fully.

The one thing I have gathered from reading the thread is that once I install either one they are not uninstallable so I guess the best thing to do is to backup my system an my card as only a re-flashing of a stock ROM and then rebuild will get it back to its pre-Sense state, correct?

Just to ask if this is at a problem and it is more recommended that I install the Verizon bare bones version first and then build as I need to, I will do that if that is better.

Also one other question I had, if I have the 2.1 on the device either by just installing it to my present system or a build from the bare bones one, do I just run the 2.5 cab to get 2.5 or do I have to start all over again and install it on a system that doesn't have any Sense on it at all?

As well if I can add the 2.5 that way, can I go back to the 2.1 by just reinstalling the 2.1 cab kinda in the same manor?

Thanks for any help.

They're mostly all the stuff we've been talking about, nothing too big yet. Will include at least one ringtone to fix the "ringtone-page-won't-go-away" problem. and other minor things. :-p

You need PhoneCanvas installed (OEMCAB folder) to have the proximity sensor work. Unfortunately it does not work with the default windows mobile dialer.

Let me start off by saying thank you for your interest in the ROM. I hope to be able to address all of your concerns.

You can run either of the 2.1 or 2.5 CABs to install Sense, and it should install without a hitch. Most, if not all the OEM software is available in the OEMCABs folder, and if not, I will most certainly CAB anything that is missing up for you. I should probably do a description of each CAB so that it will make it easier to decide what you would like to install.

Sense CABs are uninstallable not because they can't be uninstalled, but because the CAB uninstaller fails (probably because files are in use) even if you uncheck Sense and soft-reset. That's not to say that you can't get rid of it, however, it is a bit tedious. Basically you'd just have to remove all the Manila files as well as a few others related to your Sense version. Annoying, but not impossible. As for installing them on top of each other, that would probably create more problems than anything else. I hope to make fully uninstallable versions in the near future so that you don't have to manually do it or pick one version to stick with, as the whole point of this ROM is to be able to uninstall and install things at will.

I will definitely work to help resolve any issues or get your phone back exactly how you like/had it if you decide to give this ROM a try.

T-Mobile like customer service via one person on a forum. How awesome is that?! lol

First off let me say freeza, thanks for the quick, thorough and polite reply, don’t often see that kind of service.

But just to clarify just in case I didn’t make myself clear or maybe I did an you were just kindly giving me more info.

Basically I was asking if I can take my device as is without wiping out anything existing on it or installing anything else you have including the bare ROM and just run either the 2.1 or 2.5 Sence cabs you have in your FTP folder to install 2.1 or 2.5 on my device exactly as it is now.

The only reason I mention that again is that in regards to your above reply, provided this worked with a hitch, I don’t imagine I would need any of the cabs or anything else as I won’t be taking anything off the device by doing it this way, in fact that kinda is the whole point of doing it this way as I won’t need to do anything else and my device will be exactly the same except it will have Sence 2.1 or 2.5 on it, correct? (I know that last thing is a hard question to answer but I trust your best educated opinion).

This makes sense, its kinda like when your doing a backup and it has to shut down most of the services. Basically the system is designed not allow any actions, especially a deletion, to something that is currently being used and since this is stuff that is of the core operations, most of the time a great deal of it is being used all the time so a uninstall would be tough.

That would be great but until then, especially in lue of both of the above conditions that you can’t uninstall and can’t swap upgrades, I guess that best thing to do would be to do a complete backup and then if something needs to be changed or isn’t working, just do a flash with my original ROM and then do a backup restore.

This really isn’t too much of an issue and I would assume is not too time consuming, although I have never done it so I don’t know how well SPB Backup restores a system but all in all I just wanted to discuss what currently you thought was the best method.

I will definitely work to help resolve any issues or get your phone back exactly how you like/had it if you decide to give this ROM a try.

T-Mobile like customer service via one person on a forum. How awesome is that?! lol

Yup defiantly get a A++ from me!

Oh! I see. Apologies for totally letting that question go over my head. But, to answer it; someone a few pages back successfully installed Sense 2.1 over a stock ROM. However, location based weather didn't work properly as well as a few other things. With this in mind, if you still want to give it a go, I will be more than happy to see if it is possible to get it working flawlessly on a stock ROM.

As for Sense 2.5, I'm not entirely sure. If you want to do a backup and try, results would be welcome. I have a theory about which services would make Sense 2.1 (not so much 2.5 yet) work with stock ROMs, so if you want to give it a go then i'm up for the challenge.

First off no problem on not getting everything I wrote on the first shot, I know I've got kind of a problem of over wording everything I write and I know that doesn't make easy to absorb it all an thats my fault.

Yeah I read that post tool and to be honest it was one of the reasons I wrote all I wrote.

Just to say I would be very happy to test things like this but unfortunately I don't have to much time which is kinda why I was asking.

If I have time over the weekend I might try it but I doubt I will.

If not perhaps next weekend.

I will keep myself subscribed to this post though no matter what and thanks again for all the quick and professional responding.

If you think you have the fix for the 2.1 location issue, I am willing to test it for you.
