Re: Hard Reset immediately after flashing?
Yes there is a benefit. During your flash the old partition is only removed and then overwritten with the new NBH data whilst preparing for the phones first boot-up. So after you flash and HR it reformats the partition completely blanking out any old data that may still be left in flash.
If anyone is interested this is how I flash, and yes I have tried the same ROM with and without a HR: Enter the BL and begin the flash... While it is flashing, remove the battery... Dont worry the USB will power it. I do that so the phone never starts again on the reset. Then I put the battery back in and power up using the HR combo... Then it HR and install WM... |

Re: Hard Reset immediately after flashing?
there's no point in letting the customization go all the way thru because you're about to knock them right back off with a HR... so skip them.

Re: Hard Reset immediately after flashing?
Quote:
This is no longer necessary. This was for the older devices (Apache and Mogul that I've had) that had an extended rom. The reason for the hard reset was to ensure the extended rom information got copied to the phone portion of memory completely. And the hard reset did another copy of the rom image. I have not done this since my mogul days, flash probably 20 times a week and have no issues. I may recommend a soft reset (for some settings to take), but a hard reset is useless since the information for the rom is written to the place it stays when you flash. It was recommended 10,000 PPC Years ago (2 human years), but not necessary for modern devices. This concludes my educated guess... IMHO... bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep...
